Could be adding a MSP to my stable

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself to the boards. I have a 2003 Dodge SRT-4 and I'm looking for a Mazdaspeed Protege for my wife. I'll have the go-fast in a straight line, and she'll have the go-fast in the twisties.

I just wanted to let you all know that I loooove the MSP. I almost bought one, but I couldn't let 224whp and $600 less pass me by (SRT-4). So now it's time to get my wife a new car, and I've gotten her hooked on the MSP. We're in the process of looking for either a MSP or an MP3. Whichever is the cheapest, we'll prolly get. She's not really into the whole go-fast thing, but I would rather have the turbo LOL!!! Since I've had my SRT-4, I don't think I can ever go back to a N/A car.

Also to let you know, I've been reading all the bashing some of you have done on my "just a Neon" or "still a Neon." Let me just say that to each their own. You all can say Neons are crappy little econocars, but look at your Proteges. Based off the same concept. I've had a few Protege rental cars, too so don't go bashing cars that are generally rental cars. A SRT-4 is just a Neon, just like the MP3 or the MSP is just a Protege, the WRX and STi are just Imprezas, and the Lancer Evo is just a Lancer. All of our cars are based off our econocar brothers, so let's just leave that crap alone and appreciate the fact that our respective automakers have decided it's time to let the Honduhs and Acuras know it's our time to rule the streets!!!!

well the mp3 will be much cheaper, because they only made them in 2001. most used ones go for around 11-13 grand. If she doesnt mind a slow car that handles great, that is the way to go. If your lookin for a new car the 03.5 MSP jsut came out with some new colors.

We're looking at this couple's MSP that they're selling. It's the orange one. They've had it since January and it's only got 4700 miles on it. It's never seen snow and it's only been rained on three times they said. After seeing the car, I believe it. The thing was spotless. I snickered to myself though...it must take some extreme discipline not to drive the hell outta a fast car. I've only had my SRT-4 since April 4th, and I have put 3000 miles on it. I drive that thing everywhere!

The MP3 will most definetly be cheaper but it's slow as s***. I mean really slow. That extra 30hp is a big difference in the MSP. Trust me you will be glad you got the MSP. My gf was going to get an MP3 but she didn't like the power at all but loved everything else. The day the MSP was announced she wanted one. Well she got one. =)

Your MSP is JUST A PROTEGE. Face it.

Its a 2.0 FS-DE with a weak turbo.

After test driving both the SRT-4 and MSP, I'll take a SRT-4 EASILY over the MSP. Without question.

im not talking msp and srt-4 at the moment. dont tell me to face it like im avoiding the fact. i love proteges, they are awesome cars. dont point out a specific engine code because u claim in ur sig to be getting a jspec engine in the very near future. whatver... stock protege is 100x better than stock neon everyday of the ****** year and i was merely trying to point that out, guess sum people should just be driving neons...

I was just provoked by the fact that he clearly stated for no bashing b/c he has heard it all. He was just looking for HELPFUL info and insight on the MSP, but yet you blatantly come out and say the neon is a piece of s***.
He didn't even come here to argue or start a war, but you was the first one to make an unnessential and redundant comment.


I changed my idea about the J-spec thing about 6 months ago, just didn't feel like changing the sig. You kinda convinced me to change it now.

I highly doubt anymore mods will go into this car b/c I'm unsure whether I'm gonna keep it on not.

BTW, the j-spec code is FS-ZE and no anger or negativity was meant to go towards you.

welcome to the board! the MSP would be an excellent choice, and its glad to hear about your taste and what you want. SRT-4 for the straight line and an MSP for Touring. i applaud your enthusiasm for being an enthusiast. i would love to own several cars, eventhough i am a big fan of Mazdas, and i would like to think that mazda is the ultimate company, yet they arent. competition is good but hatred is not.

my buddy has a turbo P5, and its exactly that. a Turbo P5. we all love driving, and MSP's arent the only car out there. show some love guys.

eventhough the MP3 is slower then the MSP, they have the same degree of fun. hell, my car is bone stock minus the intake and exhuast, and i love driving it all the time. i may be slower then some B18 Hondas out there, but its fun for me. just wait till i get suspension then oh boy!

and for all you neon haters, my other friend kills me in his bone stock noen all the time in the straight line. if i was going balls deep on a car, the neon would be my choice.

oh and QwikSRT4, i hope some people dont scare you off the board. i am curious about the SRT-4 myself. doesnt matter to me what car you drive, its if you like to have fun with it is what matters.

I personally haven't dynoed my car. There are people around the country who have, and there's a good average of around 218-226HP -- at the wheels. Dodge severely underrated this car. They said 215HP at the crank...even most magazines have pointed this out.

personally i would get an mp3 for about 13gs and buy spools stage 3 kit.....but thats just me.....but since the wife doesnt care for much speed get an N/A mp3....when you gonna let me drive the srt4.....hopefully i can convince my brother to get one when they become available here in tx...
