Cougar - this car handles like a stripped down Ford Contour, which is what the car is based off of. The four cylinder was extremely underpowered and the V6 was lacking, especially considering the size of the motor. Pre-turbo I could smoke any one modern Cougar on the road.

Celica GT - very snappy steering, excellent power for a four cyl. My major complaint is Toyota's desire to place all availiable horsepower into the upper RPM bands - you have to really rev that sucker. Ride is choppy and very low in comparison to a P5.

RSX - I think they handle just as well by compare. Horsepower wise any RSX would beat a P5 hands down - not just an Type S. Five speed manual shifts awesome.

V6 Mustang - Heavy, ugly, boxy, cramped, out of date. They'll win drag races against you, but in all seriousness who cares? They'll ride on the same 1978 redesign frame that the car started with.

Focus - recall city, baby!!! Slow, very slow, with handling you either love or hate. Poor seats.

in the handling department....we are talking runnin the TWISTIES HERE....the P-5 will SMOKE all of those cars....well the RSX is close...

in the PERFORMANCE arena.....if you are talking straight line...well...we do NOT have screamers.....just do a power to weight comparison for each...and that will give you the answer.

however....OUR P-5's....look better than all those put together...even if they are standing still.

As far as the mustang goes, i didnt drive a v6, i drove a v8. The power in that car is CRAZY! except the handling sux big time! I can take sharper turns in my p5 @ higher speeds. I take the same turn in a 2002 mustang gt v8 4.6L @ a lower speed and i still spun out a bit.

I don't think the RSX handles that well. Ask any RSX owner and they'll tell you the rear is very unstable especially during mid-corner bumps. I think Honda really screwed up this chassis. The modified double wishbone at the rear is good for efficient packaging, that's why Honda can make the Civic/RSX with a flat rear floor. But it's not good at controlling vertical body motion. The Celica, even the GT trim, handles very well.

i know the v8s are pretty quick but i just didnt know about the v6s......the pre99 models only had like 150 horses i dunno about the torque though.....stupid B!tch of a ex-girlfriend had a 98 auto v6.....thing couldn't beat anything...not even a v6 cougar

Is it true we only have .79g of lateral grip?! Thats abysmal handling, that which could be compared to Small SUVs and the like. Maybe Car&Driver made a boo-boo on that #. Hopefully, that is.
