Clutch pedal won't come up

Second time this has happened in as many months: clutch pedal won't come up from the floor. Both times it happened as my wife backed out of the driveway and tried to go into first.

The first time this happened I physically pulled the pedal back up and drove it to the dealer. They found nothing wrong, and said if it happens again to leave it down and have the car towed so they can see what's making the pedal stay down. So now the car is presently being towed on a flatbed to the dealer.

Hopefully this time they'll figure this out. In the meantime...any ideas?

The car has 47K, and it's an '06, purchased in May '06, which means it's still under warranty...

I have nearly experienced this also. It didn't stay on the floor but when depressed, it would stay down for about 2 seconds then pop up. I've seen it happen three or four times. Each time it was VERY cold outside. Probably 20F or below. Dealer also could not duplicate...

I'm also on my fourth set of floor mats. The ring eyelet stretches and the mat shifts forward a bit. The edge of the mats catch the clutch pedal. When the clutch pedal catches the mat the mat flips up over the brake pedal. Getting REAL tired of it.

haven't had floor mat problems. The dealer said the clutch problem was a leaking slave cylinder, which is what I thought it probably was, but they told me the first time they couldn't find it.

I had this problem as well at the begining of the winter. It happened twice, both times right at start up, and both times after the car had been sitting for a couple of days. I told myself if it happened again, I was going to take it in, so at least I have a direction to point them in if it does happen again. Thanks :)
