hey guys im new to the forum ive been browsing and it looks pretty nice.
anyways, im have a question about my clutch and im not the most educated with cars and was wondering if someone could help me out. i have a 2000 protege lx with the 1.6 and 5 speed and have only had the car for about a year. i replaced the clutch about 2 months ago when it started slipping. even when i first go the car, the clutch tended to release more towards the top i never really thought much about it. when the new clutch was put in, it was harder to press and released much closer to the bottom. it seems that my clutch is releasing at the very top again. the clutch isnt slipping it just has too much travel before engaging and when the clutch was first put in it was closer and much firmer to press. is there a way to adjust the pedal or a bearing that can fix that that wouldnt be the clutch itself or does it seem my clutch is wearing out already? i find it hard to believe that i burnt out a new clutch in a few months especially since i dont beat on my car and i feel like im a decent stick driver although this is my first stick shift car. i talked to a freind and he said some clutches just are like that and they break in after a few thousand miles but it still doesnt feel right to me. any input is appreciated.
