"Cleaning up the engine" electrical lines... what to use?

It always annoys me the way cars are set up when it comes to the electrical lines and bad taping. I want to clean things up and remount some of the lines and retape some of the "ugly" tape jobs they did


I noticed the type of electrical tape they use seems to be a bit thicker and a little more plasticy. It's not some type of heat shrink I don't think.


Any ideas on what type of tape to use? Electrical tape will loosen under heat if I remember correctly..... any ideas?
