carchip for ODBII info

Saw something pretty cool on tech tv last night. Basically a chip that you plug into your car and gather ODBII data. The carchip (EX model) gathers data like speed, rpm, G's, coolant temp, air intake temp, etc. You basically plug this in and it logs up to 300 hours. You can then download the info onto a PC and their software charts everything out in a nice format. I would say the EX chip is the way to go and its about $179.

Anyway, here is the link... check it out.

Has anyone used something like this before? I figured it would be somewhat useful for figuring out calculations and troubleshooting.

what a cool device! i think i'm going to get one so i can monitor the systems and new mods, also sheck out the odb codes!

I can go you one better. Depending on what type of palm you have (if you have one, of course) You can buy adapters that will give you all that in real time, not having to download and such. As well, some OBDII scanners can read all this in real time as well. No one has mentioned price yet, but you can get a palm for about $100, and the adapters are about $60. OBDII scanners run from 100-500 bucks depending on what you need.
I'm a lazy bastard, so I dont feel like searching for the links, but I know (because I am going to purchase it when I turbo) that there is an adaptor for my Sony Clie handheld.

Someone with more oompah in their loompah could search through the OBDII readers online and prove me right. (*yawn* too busy :))
