Carbon fiber hood decision

I'm trying to decide if I wanna get my new hood fully carbon fiber color, or get the wings painted silver to match the car, ala JRtek

What does everybody think?

No, my roof's silver, but I guess that's something to consider doing in the future. Of course, one of the reasons I bought the silver instead of the black was because of this damn oppressive alabama heat

defntly the wings west mp3 style. paint the sides. looks awesome the way it flows into the upper grill. and don't pait the bar of the grill silver since that will break up the flow.

actually you should get the DGM carbon fiber grill.... it looks totally smooth with the side-painted c.f. hood.. and the VIS EVO hood is sweet. it looks better then the wings west one cuz it doesnt have the wack-ass chrome grille, and it has little side ducts that look super rad. (yes, i said rad. it's coming back, i swear!) (yes)

Thanks guys. I'm going to talk to the guy at the body shop monday to make sure they do this before they get done with the painting. I'll keep you updated.

Well I've already bought an OE style fiber images hood. Its supposed to be here by now, but is somehow in tennessee. Should be here next week though.

Everyone is doing it now but it's because painting the wings of the hood looks so damn good. I think you should paint it man.

what about painting it to look like carbon fiber?? ever thought about that one? i was watching OverHalled and that's what they did on the hood of a car. and it looked great!! thinking of doing that myself!! well, getting it painted that way, not painting it myself.. just thought i'd clear that up..

quit a bit!! the CF hood is really lite weight. but how much i have no idea.

depends on the hood. A standard CF hood might be half the weight of a stock hood, but they are usually made of mostlye Fiberglass witha topy layer of CF..

A full cf hood(not a good idea for driving on the street cuz they can be dangerous in a crash) is EXTREMELY light, somewhere between 5-10lbs for the size of our hoods, probably.

my hood has this really ugly paint blemish and dent on it that has me cringing everytime i see it. It's easily repairable and i could just have it re-painted but i honestly don't trust anyone to do it and for the price that the factory does it for i'd much rather just have a brand new CF hood. But i value my life much more


would the CF hood get dented easily like if someone were to sit on it or lean on it?
