Can i keep my stock HU?

reading through these threads and on protegeclub, i'm still unsure. i would like to keep my stock HU and add the amp/sub unit from the MP3. i'm not looking to spend $2g on my stereo and don't need to pay for broken windows when it gets stolen either.

YES you can...and have a really good system too. I don't know about adding the MP3's system....but you can easily upgrade all your speakers, which you would need to do...they are only rated for a max of 25 watts, add a decent amp, and a sub.

I just completed this system upgrade....total cash outlay, $700. That included the new door speakers (all four, I have a P-5), the amp, the sub w/ box, the install kit, and a few packs of bullet connectors from radio shack. total install time......5 hours.
