Arlan: I think the only help for hesitation is a Fuel kit from Joe P (kwiktsi); at least until Mazda comes up with something. Joe's kit works. (about $25.00)

search the forum for the website, but usually, it voids the warranty if they see it when reparing the auto. check w/ your dealer though...

I'm wondering if there's a way to fab up a sort of "dam" that would seal off the air intake (plastic piece that says "Callaway" on it) from the engine compartment. Gasket it to the hood and you've effectively isolated the stock air intake from the heat of the engine... it would have to go from the driver's side edge of the intercooler to the passenger side edge of the stock air cleaner box. Hmmm, sounds like a good weekend job with some tinsnips and sheet aluminum... stock air intake height so no puddle concerns... stock airbox... have to makje it removable...
