Burning H7 headlight bulbs???

Problem with aftermarket H7 bulbs??? Seems like a lot of people have "HyperWhite" H7 bulbs burned??? Is it true? Or it is just improper installation????

i am apprehensive about buying aftermarket bulbs for this very reason. i know some one that bought piaa hyper white bulbs and they got so hot, they started to melt the plastic connections. the only thing i can think of is if they was installed wrong, but what kind of moron doesnt know how to change a light bulb............................................................that sounds like the beginning of a joke.

Just make sure you dont touch the glass of the bulb when your putting them in. Thats really the only way they can be "installed improperly". The oils from your hand can cause the bulbs to overheat and that will shorten the lifespan of the bulbs. It should even say this on the package when you buy them.

not on the P5's, The Lows are H7, and the Highs are 9005. Now the Reg Pro's, Mp3's, and MSP's have H4's. It's just something we have that the other Proteges don't.

With an OEM setup that works so well I sure don't understand the logic of messing around with the bulbs.

Not every "mod" is an improvement . . . . (no)

exploded

its funny you mention that.

just the other day one of my lights exploded! there is a certain way you have to install them, otherwise they short to ground. ont the bulb itself, there is a metal flange or ring around it with an indentation. make sure that is pointing up. and of course never EVER touch the bulb itself.

now i have to take off the entire light housing so i can clean inside.

my only problem is I am running 100Watt HID Bulbs for the Low Beam and it is burning the shinny plastic part that covers the top of the bulb ... you can see it turning color like its getting burnt????

i mean if you look at your head light you will see one head light bulb fully exposed and the other covered by some chrome looking plastic thingy and that is what is being burnt .. and the Company that makes the bulb is below and yes I saved the factory bulbs and what better place to store them huh !!!

i used the same kind mp5raycer used and have went through three sets. i have took the precaution of wearing rubber gloves when installing, and i am 100% sure i didnt touch the bulbs on the last two installs and they still burnt out. oh well, its back to stock dims for now, until the brights go out as well.

Ugh! Ive suddenly got all of your guys problems after replying to it once. One of my cool blues burnt out and when I was changing them both back, I notices my silver plastic things on the lows was buring too. I might put the stocks back in and take it to the dealer..

Anyone know if HID's do the same things to the plastic piece? I'd assume so.

NO NO NO you must use an alcohol wipe to them when installing .. it will completely remove any oil residue on the bulb and any agents that will heat and burn when the bulb is used .. also alcohol evaporates with no residue and cleans it perfectly .. i have had mine (original set) for over 1&1/2 years now with no problems

Those are NOT HID bulbs. Please be aware of that before buying into this latest ploy from those vendors to steal your money.

In many instances, those high wattage Xenon filled "HID" bulbs generate less useable output than a premium halogen bulb.

Also, the higher wattage (almost double over stock) will generate A LOT of heat potentially causing COSTLY headlamp housing or wiring repair and replacement... be forewarned.

the local shop, extreme imports, told me to use the rubber gloves, in fact they gave them to me both times. maybe i should go give them some alcohol wipes and tell them whats up.
