Bought my wife a "new to us" Mazda 5

We rented one recently to go on vacation. (I didn't trust our 99 Honda with 260,000 miles that far out of town.) My wife loved the way the little Mazda drove so we bought one this weekend. I bought my 92 B2600 brand new and still love it. 220,000 miles and still going strong.

Just wanted to say hi and look forward to gleaning some good info here.

I do need to get another key. The local dealer wants $350 for one.(idhitit) Is there any way to program a new one with only one key? I really don't want to get bent over by the dealer on this one.

Regarding the key FOB, with only 1 key, there's only one way to get another set, thrru the dealer. You can buy the FOB/Key blanks from ebaay but you still need to go to the dealer to program it. But once you get the 2nd one from the dealer you could always get a FOB/Key from ebay and program it yourself using the 2 keys, you can find the how to for this in the how to section. Again welcome to the board and post some pics of your 5.

They would come cut but since you only have one key you would still need to go to the dealer to have them program it, I believe that they charge one hour of labor.

If you are buying a second key, go ahead and pick up a third key as a spare.

I also recommend buying a key from ebay, even with the labour charge for the programming, still much cheaper than buying the key from a dealer.
