Better rear bumper guard or '12+ MZ5?

Our MZ5's rear bumper is taking a beating. Coolers, suitcases, boxes, bags, etc are sometimes in contact with the rear bumper while loading or unloading the cargo area. As a result of this there are some marks and light scratches which I can buff out, but then there are two small gouges through the paint I cannot. I looked at the USDM rear bumper guard and it does not look to be L-shaped as I had hoped to protect the outermost corner of the bumper (and to also cover up the gouges there):

I remember seeing pics of a better one that does cover this area up nicely. Does anyone have one or has seen one that covers more than the factory one? Something like this:

I bought the 1st one in the picture.
Just arrived two day ago and I'm yet to install it. I hope I have time this Sunday, but not 100% sure yet.
I don't get around to it, will have to be next weekend if it is dry.

Can you flip it over and post a picture? I would like to know what the pre-applied 2-sided tape looks like.

We have am '07, but the bumper shape is the same, with a bumper cover. That little slanty area that the cover does not cover... is covered is scrapes and scratches.

I just installed an OEM bumper guard. It seems L shaped enough to me, but then again, I haven't loaded much yet in the cargo area to figure out if it is protective enough. It is definitely better than nothing... I've noticed the Mazda paint scratches very easily. Anyway, here are some before and after pics. You can see the pre-applied double sided tape on the bumper guardd (in red) in the before pic. The thinner strip of tape is on the downward lip of the guard.
