Is there an explanation as to why the antenna is off to the side in the 2013 model? Just wondering.

Good question.

Perhaps some cost savings on running the wires from the head unit along the side of one side of the vehicle and not extending it to the center?

Maybe its part of a fix to make reception half decent?

Unconfirmed, someone previously mentioned it is for easier access/removal but I'm not sure why one need to remove it often (shrugg).

I'd guess it is simply b/c of funky Japanese styling where not everything has to be symmetrical.
