amplifier wiring kit

i was at walmart the otehr day and noticed these, they came with power wire, some RCA cables, and a fuse if i remember correctly. anyways, do you guys use these kits or do you buy your own wire seperately?
also, where is the fuse needed? is there one needed for the head unit as well as the amps? what size are you supposed to use? thank you

I like to use amp kits as much as possible, I realy like the monster kit, i don't know much about the walmart one however. The fuse for the headunit will already be inline with the stock radios power wire which most people use to power their aftermarket radio. Also some aftermarket head units have a inline fuse on their wire harness.

Fuses for amp wiring kits should be placed within 18" of the battery for safety. Typicaly an amp kit will come with a fuse appropriate for the guage wire it uses.

Some don't include RCAs so you may have to buy them seperatley.

unless YOUR wal-mart is different that most...the amp wiring kit you were looking at is a SCOSCHE brand wiring kit.....wal-mart happens to be their national distributor for all their products....and they are pretty good. I used one of their kits for my install. The thing that is nice about their kits...is right on the front of the box it tells you what the kit is for...as in if you are installing a 200-300 watt amp or a 500 watt amp or whatever....and the wiring is sized appropriately for that power load.....many or should we say MOST aftermarket head units now have the RCA outs on the back...which is why the kits include a set of RCA leads.....the kits typically run about $20 and are well worth it...as you would be hard pressed to get the same quality of wiring, all the connectors, fuses, and leads for that much if you had to buy them seperately.
