No not car related!!!
Was digging holes this weekend with my roommate using a 2 person gas powered auger and on the last hole (#35) we struck the main GAS LINE and ripped it in 2. We immediately shut the auger off and yanked it from the hole. I ran next door to my neighbors and got them out of their houses and my roommate ran inside and got our cell phones. I called 911 he called Gas Co. Within 5 minutes we had 2 fire trucks, 15 volunteer Firemen, 1 cop and 1 gas co. guy. Out in the pouring rain @ 10am sunday morning. They say it happens all of the time but man was it a close call. We had just gotten done smoking cigarettes and gone back to work when this happened. They had everything fixed within about 30 minutes. But until they shut it off GAS was shooting out of this hole sending mud and water in the air about 20ft. you could smell it all the way down the street. Man did I piss some neighbors off this weekend.
All of the events on sunday happened for 2 reasons. 1st the damn line was mis marked and on top of that was installed improperly (was only 6" below surface and supposed to be 2') the 2nd reason was that we were doing this in the rain and mud on Sunday because on Sat. the auger I rented had to be taken back to the rental shop to be fixed. Some jackoff filled it up too much with oil and then flipped it upside down.
I really think somebody was telling me not to plant all of these things this weekend because that was not all that happened. I bought a new wheelbarrow and the first trip of dirt we took the tire popped. Well 1hour fixing that and 5 loads later and the damn tub on it splits down the middle. But alas I got everything finished.
Here is a list of what I planted if you care:
20 Leyland Cypress
1 White Birch
2 Japenese Red Maple
2 Alberta Spruce Topiary Spirals
2 Rose Bushes
4 Dwark Alberta Spruce
2 Boxwoods
2 Golden Euonymous
Well knock on wood I didn't blow myself or anyone else up. think I am done with yardwork for awhile. Well almost I have to fix my side yard as it is destroyed from having to dig the line up and from everyone walking all over it. Once that is done then so am I on the yard. It's going to look perfect in about 2 years when the cypress are filled in. I created a natural fence between mine and my neighbors house and basically closed off my back yard. Well I think I am going to stick to modding the P5. it's safer that way!
