Aftermarket head unit stuck in dash

So today I installed a new double din head unit using the metra kit, sort of. While putting in the screws supplied with the head unit (some had flat tops, others were kinda dome shaped) I noticed a couple of the dome shaped ones barely cleared the grey outer plastic part used to hold in the factory deck (I assume that's what they're for). So me being a dumbass I just kinda jammed it in there thinking that if I could get it in, I can get it back out again to install the microphone for hands free calling. Nope. It's stuck in there and as far as I can tell brute force isn't going to get it back out. I need to tear up my dash a little and take out the screw from the inside. I've searched around on these wonderful forums and I can't seem to find any guides for removing certain parts of the dash. The screw is located on the right side of the radio so I would need to remove enough around there to get at it. Does such a step by step guide exist? Thanks

Did you try removing the center console bezel? Tilt the two center air ducts downward, then grasp the bezel with both hands and pull straight.

To my knowledge, no dashboard removal how-to exists. You'd have to follow the shop manual. Removing the dashboard is a long process.

You shouldn't need to remove the dash. If the screw is close to the front of the radio then follow maxpowers instructions and pull the bezel. It should be able to come forward an inch or two without removing anything else. That might give you the room you need to get the screw pulled out.

FYI, having used the metro kit, it contains a lot of screws that you really don't need. Just assess the situation and think about what needs to get screwed back in.

I actually removed my glovebox and was able to get at it with my tiny hands, but thanks for the help anyway. The metra kit is pretty awful, it doesn't really hold it in, it sits fine but somehow doesn't feel secure.

^This is what I was going to suggest!
I am glad you got it!
