55w HID and factory wiring

Have been doing a lot of HID kit upgrades lately; wife's mazda 3 low beam and fogs, and my MS6 fogs. Now I want to upgrade the factory MS6 35W D2S set up to a 55w kit.

My questions, I was looking at the factory HID ballast and the headlight assembly. I see the ballast but no wires/connectors visibly connecting to it; I am assuming that the wires are wired through the middle of the ballast on the housing side.

Has anyone upgraded the ballasts t 55w. Also has also anyone viewed the wiring to the ballast?

plug is on the bottom of the headlamp, underneath the balast (which plugs directly in.) The wiring does run inside the headlamp and to the ignitor. Not sure what would be involved in upgrading...I had my headlamps opened up a couple weeks ago, but didnt pay particular attention to the internal wiring.
