Hey guys,
This is for the technical people out there. My car is a little over a year old, and I am almost due for my 30,000 mile service. I drive my car a lot, its for work. I should have a company car I think, but I don't. Even though the playstation division is making boatloads of loot, they can't buck up for a car.
Anyway, I have never ever had a new car. I have done all the routine maintenece myself, on all my cars. I have always changed the oil, I put my new muffler on, on my old car I replaced the spark plugs, brake pads, and shocks. While going over the maintence schedule from the dealer, there were some things on it that gave me some questions. Hopefully some of y'all can help me out...
1.) Does anyone know what the "Transmission & Fuel System Conditioner" is? Is it work the $19.90?
2.) Automatic Transmission System Flush. This is $100, so I imagine that it's a hardcore thing to do, right?
3.) They are charging $45.55 to replace the spark plugs. I can do that for cheaper, any recommendations on what kind to get?
4.) Drain and refill cooling system. This is another $50. Is it hard to do, or is it capable for someone of my experience to do? Is this one a leave it to the experts?
5.) Also, is the dealership going to give me grief for adding an intake? Its not an injen, a no name actually...I know some dealers are strict about this...didn't know if I would get hasseled. I know the son of the salesman I got it from is on this board...Hopefully, he will read this...JasonH, where are ya?
Thanks for any and all of your help guys. The reason I am writing is that I really dont have $400+ that the dealer will want for the entire suggested service. I know the dealership really charges a lot for stuff, but is it in my best interest to just do it anyway or what? I just wanted to know what stuff I could do at home, so that I could lessen the expense.
Also, when dropping the car off to get work done, I will need a ride. I know they dont give loaner cars for this regular maintence stuff, but do you know if like the dealer can rent you a car, or arrange you to have one? Again, I have never done this dealership service thing, so I apologize if this is a stupid thread.
