2008 Mazda 5 clutch adjustment/replacement

I have a 2008 Mazda 5 with a manual transmission and the clutch is starting to slip at about 80,000 miles. I checked the factory manual, and there doesn't seem to be any clutch adjustments possible although there is one test for determining that the clutch disengages at the proper pedal depth. (The service manual didn't say what to if the pedal is out of spec since there doesn't seem to be any adjustment.) Are there any clutch or pedal adjustments I am missing that might help?

If there are no clutch adjustments, then it seems that I will need to change the clutch soon. Has anyone out there that has changed the clutch on a Mazda 5? Is it difficult? If I do change it, will using a high performance clutch kit give me a longer service life?

Any other thoughts or advice?

Thanks

I have 235000 KM on my orginal Clutch. No sign of ware yet. Changed the Oil to Sythetic 30 gear oil a coupl years back, as only maintinance. Modern clutches, like brakes are self adjusting. Not to be a smart ass but have you reveiwed your driving habits? Resting foot on clutch pedal? Compression breaking, is no longer recommended as modern brakes are more than up to the stopping task and are cheaper to service. 80.000 miles is way to short a service life for the clutch.

I doubt it is driving habits. All my cars (8 over the years) have had manual transmissions and I've never had to change a clutch in any other vehicle. Also, I found numerous complaints posted about clutch life on the Mazda 5 when I looked into this, many with much shorter life than 80,000 miles. Of course that doesn't necessary mean anything because you can't tell what percentage are really having problems.

Thanks

Well I guess all I can really recommend is, do your half shafts at the same time. CVs ware more often and since making the effort to drop the Trans might as well kill two birds...
