2002 Protege 5 ECU Location?

Could someone please tell me the location of the ecu I heard it was under the right side of the dash I removed the glove box but I didn't see it Is it under the console? Any help would be greatly appreciated

you have to look under the carpet on the passenger side...

you will need an extension, ratchet and 10mm socket

there is a metal plate under the carpet... under that plate is the ecu... it is also held on by two metal strips with 10mm bolts...

take caution... the metal is pretty sharp and will cut you fairly easily

Also be prepared to twist this plate into position to remove the ECU from the the back side of it. MAY AS WELL have some gloves or rags handy to grip it. If not have them handy anyway to soak up the blood, you will cut yourself.

Located on passenger front floor pan under carpet against the firewall right where your feet go.

4---10mm holding plate down, two on the floor pan, two on the fire wall
4---10mm cap nuts with metal straps holding the ECU to the back of the plate....AGAIN very very sharp.

+1 for gloves. That plate will tear your hands up INCREDIBLY easily. Don't even attempt the job if you don't have on some leather gloves.

I took one look at that thing and knew that LOL.....Looks like they took it straight off the stamping line and bolted it into the car. No deburring or anything. WOW
