Its a 2-stage door. So when the pistons just raise to their own height, it will be the height you are used to, but you can push it up and it will raise about 3-4 more inches. We have a gravel driveway, so I can't get you the actual heights, sorry.

i want to say that if the car will fit in the garage, you can open the tailgate in the garage. at the first stage height, the tailgate is only slightly higher than the roof line. and even at the second stage height, the tailgate is still lower than the top of the antenna.
I'll need to get the measurement tonight. I looked up the length of the Mazda5 already, but due to our washer and dryer, it'll be pretty close to the garage door when it's closed. When the garage door is up, it slopes down a little bit where the wheel track makes a 90 degree bend and that's where the liftgate would potentially be an issue I think. My P5 currently fits OK, but it's a bit shorter in length and height.
