17x7.5 +40 offset. Will it fit?

Ok i've been running my current rims which are 17x7.5 45+ (with 3mm spacers) wrapped in 215x40x17. My fenders are rolled and I have no rubbing issues. Looking to switch up the rims, found some that are 17x7.5 with +40 offset. I was wondering if i'd have any issues with that offset or if anyone here is running similar specs. Otherwise 17x7.5 +50 offset is also an option.

Thanks

If you are currently running a +45 offset I would say that a +40 offset would be fine. I would think it would anyway. Not to sure about a +50 offset if you are already running spacers though. not sure how everything looks on car now. If anything just do a test fit and make sure the fit with no issues before you purchase a set. hope it helps!

Thanks for the quick reply. My current wheels are +45 offset as is. I have 3mm spacers on top of that so I guess that would really bring it to +42 offset. So not sure if brining it to a +40 offset with the new wheels would make much of a difference.

i run 17x7.5 +38 w/ 215/45's and i rub a little i'm lowered on coilovers though. I'm gonna add a little camber and that should fix the rubbing i get.

yeah you should be fine if you're using the same tires as before...and remove the spacers for the rear. With rolled fenders though, you may even get away with the +37 in the rear (+40 wheels with the 3mm spacers)...on the sedans anyway, NO chance a 5 would pull that off...

I just installed new wheels today...+48mm 17x8 enkei RS+Ms with 205/45 bridgestone RE760s...with Tein S-tech springs (2" drop in back) on a protege 5...with the car settled, i can't even fit metal ruler between the tire and the unrolled lip in the rears...i can't believe i got away with it, just one more mm on the sidewall of those tires and i'd be rolling the rear fenders right now. Fronts are spaced out 10mm's, and also no rubbing. pretty happy.

sedans have more room in the rear though...you realistically may still be safe with your spacers...just depends how aggressive the fender rolling was.

Awesome info. If I can ditch the spacers and if I like how the width looks i'll do that, otherwise if I can push it out more with the spacers without rubbing that would be even better. Thanks for your input.

just a update i went and got my car aligned. Got my toe fixed and i'm running -1.8 camber in the front and -2 in the rear and it doesn't rub at all anymore. I might take some of the camber back out now.

my summer rims are 17x7.5 +42 offset with 3mm spacer (so +39) and running 215/40/17 tires. I was rubbing very slightly on passenger rear fenders when turning quickly.

what kind of camber kit are you running? I was debating whether to just remove the spacer but since having them on personally i see the difference even if its insignificant and don't want to remove them :(

Do you have a close up pic of your rear wheels? I'd like to see how +39 looks.

Only decent ones i have so far, they are off the car right now for winter

It's not totally flush but i think thats the limit without rolling fenders

To thread-jack a little. I recently acquired some 17x7 rims with 215/45 tyres on them, the offset of the rims is 40mm. Anyone know if I will scrub on an unlowered 4 bolt sedan?

ahh that's why you aren't rubbing w/ no camber. You are higher then I am. Also if you were lower you would have to roll the fenders.
