Hi all. A buddy of mine has an 03 Protege with the FSDE and an auto. The engine and tranny are both built since the previous owner raced it in SCCA. His issue is that he's had to replace the VSS 3 times now in 4 months. I put the newest one in just now and fluid drained out of the sensor hole, the ATF looked dark brown. The transmission has HKS F1 internals; I was wondering if that or having old fluid would cause the VSS to go bad so quickly, and whether we should get it flushed to fix this? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
