Zymol is it any good?

I have decided to stick with the NXT stuff for now since it seems to be just fine and my car stays smooth quite well.

I took the zymol back and looked at the gold class but I dont see it being any better then the NXT and the NXT is the newest product from meguairs any how.

After a NXT wax the car looks very good but not like the pics of those who used pinnacle ect. It seems good enough to me and for the price and protection it is said to offer I think it does the job well. I will however buy the paste version next time since its said to be better then liquid form.

I was interested in some sort of cleaner/wax but the NXT says it removes light scrathces and such and since its synthetic autogeek reports that it bonds and protects much longer then other natural products but minus the insane shine.

Is there any risk in over application of NXT? From what I have read it doenst seem to harm the pain in anyway and can be used often according to meguiars website. That seems to be a plus for me and since it is so easy to work with its a piece of cake to do even if it needs to be put on often.

PS just read up and realized that instead of the speed detailer I use daily I shoudl use the actual spray wax to boost the prior wax application. I may do something like use the speed detailer more often but the spray wax weekly or 2x per week in repalcement of the speed detailer.

Just talked to meguairs on the phone and they said not to apply more then max 1 time per month but better to wait every 2 months before applying again. He also said not to use the spray wax as a detailer since it will start to build up and look smeared just as applying too much wax too often will do.

The NXT line he said is better and more improved in protection and shine then the the gold class line. I am going to just stick with what I have and continue to use NXT and the speed detailer daily to remove all the daily driver crap that gets stuck on the paint.

I was under the impression that the NXT wax had a light polish compound in it. I don't see that on the bottle though.
In any case, it is a synthetic wax and bonds better to your paint. So it's supposed to last longer and create a better seal.
You can then apply a coat of the Gold Class wax over top to get a better shine. If you do a double coat, it may look better.

I use both the NXT wax and the Gold Class. I have only applied the NXT wax on my own car only once before winter, but just recently did my gf's mom's SUV and my own mom's car using NXT. They both look really good now. I don't plan to use NXT on my car more than twice a year, the rest of the time, Gold Class should be good enough.
At least once a year, I want to do a clay bar, polish, NXT and Gold Class, which I have yet to do...

Meguairs told me that NXT is better then gold class as far as shine, protection, and bonding.

It may look better to double wax it since gold class I think has some carnuba but it isnt necessary according to them.

He did say to try their new Unlitmate speed detailer which will kick up the shine between washes or waxes.

I dont want to buy all that stuff on auto geek I am looking at what I can pick up locally like at Pepboys ect.
Try Duragloss products at your local carquest. The duragloss 901 and 902 is the only carwash i'd use cause its gentler then the other OTC.
I used the NXT and it seems to be nice but thought I would try that blue Zymol liquid stuff but dont know anything more then reading the label and appearing to be a good product.
zymol liquid supposidy is just rebadged turtle wax crap. Totally different from the non OTC stuff.
Anyone use it or should I try something else?

Also these cleaner waxes, can they be used often or do they strip clear coat?
Clearcoat is usually stripped with polishes. Try to stick with pure waxes and not the cleaner wax. S100 and P21 are good OTC waxes that you will be happy with.(headbang)

I've used both the gold class and NXT, the people that put the time and effort into ZAINO and Zymol on the mustang boards have been thoroughly impressed. I use Gold Class on my focus and NXT (which looks better on dark cars in my opinion) on my Mustang and it's too my liking. Easy on, easy off, and it doesnt leave white on black plastic if you happen to mess up.

IM just going to stick with the NXT and it seems to shine for as long as I like it to. I personally enjoy spending time to wax and would do it monthly if it didnt build up.

I parked next to a patients house this past week and when they asked if that was my car and I looked outside I saw a 15 ft high fountain coming down on the hood form a busted sprinkler. It spotted the hell out of the car and with a wash and NXT speed detailer it all came off pretty darn well and still is shinny.

I wipe mine down daily with speed detailer and micro fiber towel and the paint stays smooth as glass instead of allowing things to stick to the paint and then clay bar. This does take too much freaking time and its starting to get old but I imagine the most I let it go is a week before being washed and wiped with detailer. For now its pretty much daily that I have the car perfect for each next day which is nice to have.

I am sure one day it may need clay bar but if you stay on top of cleaning the paint and not let it bake in the sun with crap on it there seems to be less chance of the paint becoming rough.

So far the combo I am doing makes the black car look wet all the time. I do the NXT wax and speed detailer daily which works for me so far. I will loo into the Ulitimate speed detailer they told me about since Meguairs tech said it creates even more shine between waxes.

I for one, used Nu Once a Year car polish and damn, It's really holding up great! I just hosed down the car and towel-cleaned and it looks just like when I applied the car polish!

I would suggest that and Turtle Wax Wax'N'Dry, I think that is called.

As for the rims, I used WheelWax, which obviously works the same as body wax. It does also work great and you only need to wipe off the dust/brake farts.

Nu Finish rocks

I have been using Nu Finish too and it is working great. I used nu finish on my 99 mustang and it still looks and feels like new despite being an outdoor daily driver for the last 8 years.
My routine on my silver MS3 has been:

1. Get home from work
2. Wait about 30 minutes for the car to cool
3. Use a quick detailer and microfiber cloth to get off the daily accumulation of crud and dust
4. Every weekend take it to the car wash and only use the spot free, low force rinse and dry it off.
5. Apply Nu finish every month...

I have had great luck with a clay bar when needed but I try to use it sparingly.

Ulitmately, the less you touch your finish, the longer it will last. Using de mineralized water and ultra soft and clean towels between waxing will ensure your finish will look the same for a long time.

I dont bother to wax the wheels since I use simple green to clean them up when it gets washed and it will just strip the wax off.

I suppose maybe a coat of wax on them would allow me to just use the car soap and brush to get them clean. I will give them a wax tomorrow and see if that makes it easier to clean them of brake dust.

As for not touching your finish I agree to a point but using the detailer and micro fiber towel daily keeps the crap off the car that creates damage. If you leave crap on there all week and it bakes in the sun it will do more damage then a wipe down with a cloth.

this is what claybar does...

I need to clay bar my wifes car but mine still is like glass since it gets wiped down daily with speed detailer.

How hard is it to clay bar? Is there any chance of messing up the finish on the car?

NO you can only do a bad job. just to panel by panel. if you wipe your car daily with speed wax stuff id do your car once every six months.

wash your car with dawn(blue) this will get all the wax off your car.
then use the claybar and the lub stuff. (mothers claybar kit.)
then was with car soap(not cheap stuff like eagle one. i like mequiers)
then wax with your choice of wax(once again i like gold class)
