Christmas Tree

Phenda, you can yell at me for posting this in OH forum, but I figured I'd bug local people a bit.

For those who don't recognize the name - I R Fez.

Rebuilding the engine. Adding some toys and possible useful thingies.
Currently have Vei boost and plx afr gauges. Have 2 open holes (heh heh) ... available gauge slots, that is.
Was thinking about adding oil pressure and temp - getting spin on conversion with the adapter plate so these will be easy to install.

So, questions - suggestions on the types of gauges, if not the oil monitors.
Suggestions on the brands / models to keep the black / red theme of the current gauges and ms6 cluster consistent.
installed plx one - http://www.maperformance.com/rehost/PLX-DM-5-AFR_large.jpg

Thaaaaanks!! :)

Here is what it looks like. Don't judge the crappy picture... or a ton of crap on the windshield.

hmm .. all the views and no comments. Can someone move the thread into a general section then? plzktnx.

Do you have a AFR guage? Oil pressure is a good call as well. I would get a AEM AFR guage and an autometer Oil Pressure gauge. I live autometer stuff. They might be a little less flashy, but they are a very nice quality and last a long time.

Already have plx afr gauge with a separate digital processor / receiver.
I'll take a look at autometer / prosport though. Trying to figure out good quality / theme balance.
Thank you.

I've been championing these guys since I picked up three for my RX-7. www.marshallinstruments.com Check out their SCX line - clean overall design, 270-degree sweep, peak recall and warning features, and outputs for datalogging purposes. Around $100/gauge.

Those are nice! And they come in black / black with red backlight.
Did you have to call them to buy these?

Black/Black w/ red backlight is what I got for my RX-7. I think a few sites carry them and I've even seen a few on eBay but it's probably best to call them directly. I had an issue where I got the wrong color (black w/ silver bezel) and the wrong pressure sending unit when I ordered from an independent source. Fortunately Marshall Instruments was willing to work directly with me and they swapped out the bezels and sent the correct sender at no cost.

FWIW, the images on the site match the end product exactly:

I've heard the Prosport gauges are kinda finicky. For Christmas Tree I would suggest better quality.

ps- very glad you are rebuilding and not selling her, Fez. (2thumbs)

I would personally go with AEM, bit more expensive but moar peace of mind. If you want the cool back light and all, Autometer would be my second option, plenty of LEDs to choose from.

Spin oil conversion was pretty easy, I still have the one I had on the 3, should work for ya if you want it as I don't have use for it. Been to lazy to put it up for sale.

those look nice..
Just noticed their gauges are 60mm though and my pod has 52mm openings. boo :/

Where did you see they're 60 mm? The ones I got are the standard 2-1/16" or 52 mm. I think it's only the tach/speedo and mechanical gauges that are bigger.

Are the AEM gauges still all plastic? I had the UEGO wideband, oil temperature, and oil pressure on my old P5 and while they seemed accurate I hated the look/feel of the plastic gauges. I also didn't like how bulky the bezels were.

I'd never put anything autometer on mine lol. I'd do AEM and/or innovate. The quality of the innovate gauges I have is superb. Easy to read instructions.

Must have misread. Did your gauges come with sensors or have to buy those separately? (oil pressure / temp sensors, that is)
