Your thoughts on the MSP6 clutch

I drove the ms6 yesterday. I didn't find the clutch that bad at all. Yes it engages in a different spot then my msp, but it actually reminds me of 2 of previous cars which were preludes.

The clutch can be learned. It is very abrupt as has been noted before, but smooth transitions are attainable. After 5K in this baby the only problems that I occasionally have now are large hills or when I am not paying attention and engage first. If you take your time in these situations you will have no problems because first is the worst. The clutch is easily learned for the remaining gear changes.

Since it is an electronic clutch, I have wondered whether it may be possible to install an electronic device to broaden the zone of engagement. Thoughts?

Electronic clutch? wtf?

Sorry BZZ. I thought that I had read somewhere that the clutch was electronically-actuated, but I wasn't able to find anything to back it up. The official PDF sates that it uses a "Single dry plate with diaphragm spring." Your reactions is all I need to know that I mixed up some synapses somewhere. My bad. I wasn't trying to be the disseminator of MS6 mistruths...LOL!

lol.
One more shot.

Listen brother. I cry Uncle. Since I am getting nowhere, I am not going to comment on anything other than the feel of the clutch against my foot. How about that?

lol. It's the same set-up as the Msp as far as the clutch actuation. It uses a hydraulic actuator. It even has the same designed delay valve in the line so that you can't completely "drop" the clutch all at once.

thats no good......

sounds like the clutch in my father's 626 LX-V6. it grabs the second you start releasing the clutch pedal and is fully engaged like half way out......

takes a minute to get used to and if you are not a good stick-driver you will stall for first time you try it!

Hmmm I have been thinking if I should post my video clip here. This is just a clip that I tape to record the sound of the exhaust on my car. But near the end of this clip where I have to do a 3 point turn and it clearly show the exhaust does help one to operate the clutch better. Anyway, here is the clip and please don't complain as this is just one boring clip with me driving :)

Note: clip is 15mb so 56K user please beware.

is there any adjustment in the pedal? i know it won't help the quick engagement, but it might make it so the clutch suits you better. instructions for a 2g dsm:

Loosen the lock nut on the adjuster rod and you'll be able to rotate the rod by hand. If getting the right free play off the floor makes it so that you loose the free play at the top of the pedal travel, you will need to adjust the upper travel stop. The upper travel stop is the cruise control switch.

Bloody Hell, mate! Don't you get into a lot of accidents driving on the wrong side of the road like that! In fact, I nearly did a couple of times when I rented a car in London awhile back.

Also, very glad to see that your people have given you proper turn signal, I mean "blinker", training. On this side of the globe, 70% of drivers appear to have never been made aware of the purpose of that funny thing sticking out of the steering column.

Oh, yeah, exhaust sounds good, like a proper sports cars instead of a psychotic vacuum cleaner, to quote one of the mags.

What kind of exhaust did you put on there it sounds pretty nice. Also the new magnaflow exhaust for the speed 6 is supposedly out, but i cant find any websites selling it. Heres a link to a video of take off and drive by. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=Sport&id=1181

The exhaust is part of the deal that I had when purchasing the car as it is on the demo car that I drove. It is some unknown brand and sound not too bad I guess. Also it is axle back, so I don't hope for any gain in power if any at all.

The Magnaflow sound real nice and if the dyno does show any improvement, then it should worth the cost. The link you show does have the price on it, I think you can purchase it through them, couldn't you?

haha....yes, but we are the drivers that occupy the RIGHT side of the car :D But when I was at LA, I notice the driver are more obedient and tolerant than most drivers here Down Under.

Magnaflow sells its products through authorized dealers, only problem is none of them have this exhausted listed yet on there webpage.

Just went in today and pulled the trigger on a Speed6 GT. I got the Titanium Grey II with moonroof and some other minor acessories. The S-plan was really good no hassle and I should have it in about a week and a half or so. I took a test drive in one today and the clutch was really good much better than the last one I drove.

the clutch

Wow maybe I just don't know how to drive a stick........ First gear is a doozy!(shocked) Other than that I am good

Congrats! A week and a half is just the blink of an eye . . . except when you're waiting for a new vehicle. Don't forget to put on lots of shark, I mean F&I repellent on before going to the dealer. Also, I'm sure you know this, but it won't hurt to remind the sales guy to remind the prep guys that it takes 93 octane, not 87 (pissed) when they fill it up for you! Otherwise it'll be a sucky first few days . . . believe me.
