Would you be interessted in purchasing a TWM short shifter for your 5?

Damn near everything uses a cable linkage these days. The trick with a short shifter is that they re-engineer the leverage of the linkage points and shorten the movement of the stick relative to the cables.

I am interested and depending on install difficulty, would be able to beta test.
One obvious suggestion - if the MS3 shifter is shorter, it may be a direct swap for the 5, just as the Audi TT shifter is a swap for the Jetta/Golf.

I don't believe the Mazda uses the same system as the VW. Every short shifter I have looked at for the Mazda uses a different lever, not a different transmission weight like the Audi/VW.

I own a 3 AND a 5; the mechanisms are very different. Definitely not a swap-able item. Personally, I find the shifter on the 5 to be about perfect for my taste. The 3 is nice, but with higher effort and a somewhat less precise feel. Just an opinion, of course.(rockon)

The 5's shifter feels pretty good for the type of vehicle. It has decent weight and the throw seems pretty short. It does feel better than our old Mazda3's shifter....less rubbery.

I have designed a short throw shift plate for the Mazda 5 that reduces the throw 33%. It attaches to the transmission end of the linkage like the ones I've designed for the MAZDASPEED 3 and 6. I started a GI thread to see if I should have more made.

Thanks,
Jamie
