You might be a soldier if...

ok good, a couple of Marines already chimmed in. but there are a few to add for Marines.

You know your in the Marine Corps when:

1. if you know, understand, and live by the acronym FDF.

2. the e-club has no women in it one weekend, and the next weekend its packed with women.

3. when the same weekend the the club is packed with woman. 7th Marines where in the field.

4. You have smelt Lake Bandini in the early morning, from the other side of base.

5. a woman picks you up, and she takes you back to housing.

6. The next morning you wake up, and your still in house, when you live in the barracks.

someone is bullshitting you then if they said you need a 100...the minimum is 95 for all mos's. now if you wanted to go for arabic, mandarin chineese, or korean, you need a 100. i scored a 98 and had the choice of persian farsi, serbo croatian, russian, and a few others.

Accually according to NAVY stardards it's 100. The CTI rating is a highly sought after position, so they raised the standard. We'll see how it goes when I take it again in Dec/Jan.

I'm a rock. Take hill....duhhh....grr grrr... (no questions asked.....1,000 ememy soldiers later., AFTER not asking how MANY were on that hill in the FIRST place....) lol

I've seen things from all sides of the military...the enlisted side, the commissioned side, the contractor side...the reserves and active duty...stateside and across the pond...

my opinions:

being enlisted gives you the camaraderie that you can't find anywhere else - this goes for any branch of the service.

being an officer allows you to expose yourself to true responsibility and executive decisions. anyone who is an O-6 or above will know what I'm talking about.

I think in terms of experience...it's comparable...whether you're a desk jockey or an 11B, you're still defending the nation and everything we stand for.

I'm currently a DOD contractor. I love it. I still have my military connections, but I interface with everyone...from wingmen all the way to theater commanders. I was also able to attend college like a normal student without depending on Uncle Sam.

oh...most other countries require compulsory military service for two years after 18 years of age...the only way to get out is to go to college in a foreign country.

by the way, my ASVAB GT score was 132. I could have done anything at all...but stupid me, I became a 63J.

if you know what that is without looking up the MOS chart, then you get a cookie.

thats fine...i ask you, how many pushups can you do? how many situps? do you have any college credits ? what do you like to do in life or what would you like to do in the army? how do you feel about possibly not living near maryland.

what can be offered to me in the army? i have an A.A.S. in Electronics Engineering.

Example of "you might be a soldier?" Try the following sentence from Matthew...

"why do you need a 100 on the dlab, are you trying for a CAT4 language?"

Exaaactly. acronyms are a b****. I think it is between the computer geeks and the military who can come up with the most acronyms. The worst? The military's computer people. I doubt I could understand one word they say...

FYI, that list is hilarious!!!!

thats interesting, the max score is 130.

"why do you need a 100 on the dlab, are you trying for a CAT4 language?"

translation: why do you need a 100 on the defense language aptitude battery, are you trying for a category 4 language (such as chinese, korean, or arabic)?

as for you reeves, what are you interested in doing with your degree? the army has computer engineering type jobs, as well as generator mechanics, etc. with a degree you could either join as a specialist (enlisted) or officer.

oops.

sorry. typo. 122 (for GT score)

I'm a military computer guy (even worse...a geeky prior-service DoD contractor working on computers)...worked with the CTSF at Hood and EPG during LUT/FT for FBCB2 and ABCS...now, I'm on FCS, which the OFW will get sometime in 2012.

give me about an hour, im typing up a guide to the army or joining or whatever. i think youll be interested.
