I just changed the cabin air filter in the family hauler...2009 CX9. I fired up the blower to smell the clean air and the blower sounded like an airplane ready for take off. The sound is a low drone and was definitely not there before the filter swap. I double checked to make sure that I installed the filter properly, ran the blower without the filter and even put the old one back in...same sound. Activating recirc only amplifies the sound. It's noticeable in all modes: floor, defrost, dash vents, etc. I took a video of it, but the sound is such a low frequency that it can't be picked up in the video. As best I recall, nothing fell into the blower assembly when I took the old filter out (lots of leaves in there).
Has anyone heard of this issue? Any suggestions? Can I access the blower motor assembly from under the dash? If so, maybe I can see if something is lodged in there.
Thanks.
