Yellow OR Blue P5

I think Im buying a P5 Saturday. I just dont know if I want yellow or Blue. I think yellow looks really nice but Im wondering if I will grow sick of it after a while. I like blue but not as much, but I feel I wont get sick of the color as easly. Another thing is that Im 28 (male) and I have a friend that says Im too old for yellow. I want opinions from people who own Blue and yellow and tell me any regrets or do you still love your car???

Todd,

I think almost every color of the Protege 5 is sweet. The blue is sharp...

But for me, I had to go for the Yellow....Don't know why, just something about it...I guess the zoom-zoom ads that were heavily running back in the day with the Pro-5 just sunk into my head too much.

I am 27, and I can't stop smiling every time I see my car. Crap, everytime I park into the driveway, I get out, walk to the front door, turn around and say "Damn, thats a phat ride..." I mean to say it in my head, but on several occassions I have said it out loud. My wife looks at me and asks who I'm talkin to...just can't help it!

So I vote for yellow, definitely my favorite color! I haven't gotten sick of it yet (only like 3 months old, but still!)

Let us know what you decide!

Craig

i am 21. i got a yellow 5. love it. had it since august and am not tired of it and i doubt i would get tired of it. yellow was my first and only choice. if i would have gotten another color i would have had buyers remorse and always looked at yellow thinking "man there goes the car i really wanted". i don't think you can be too old for yellow. there is a guy 37 years old on edmunds pr5 board and he has a yellow. and another said that he has seen a 65 year old women in a red one (another bright color).

YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW.....its their hottest color by far...at least what most people are wanting....and as far as age goes...that is crap....I am 45...and MINE IS YELLOW!!....I love it...it gets the looks where other colors don't.....even my two teenage daughters friends have told them how much they like her DAD's ride....we get looks no matter where we go....comments from the clerks at the drive threws....of all the colors I HAD to have a yellow one...and I looked and searched till I found one.....I do NOT regret it...nor do I believe I could EVER get tired of it.

HOWEVER....if you are the type that doesn't like to stand out in a crowd....get some other color. :{D

Funny you should bring this up...I have the yellow P5, am 40-something, and am NEVER told I picked a "young" color. All I get from friends is "Wow, what a sharp color!".

I've only had the P5 for three months, so I can't say if I'll ever get tired of the yellow. All I can say is I've never had a car that pulled attention like this one. The color grabs the eye, then they look at the car.

I feel the same as CMACK and SIR NUKE. When I approach my car, I think - "man, that looks sweet". I liked the silver and white, as well, but the lines of the car (and what beautiful lines they are) just seemed to jump out at me with the yellow. I also feel that if I hadn't gotten the yellow, I would also have had buyer's remorse. Don't let anyone tell you which color to get. Go with your heart - this is an emotional car, to be sure!

If no one tells me that I'm too old for yellow, I just don't think it will happen to you.

Disclaimer: Just the opinion of a codger going through the "mid-life crisis", so apply more than a grain of salt. :D

Well thus far nobody has said blue. So I'll be the first.
Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue,
I actually had to have mine brought in fromout of the area because I only wanted Midnight Blue Mica. They had a few blue ones in the area but not with ABS.
They yellow looks good but blue will still look good to me 5 years from now.
Everybody I know likes the color. Well actually one of them does not count because she said it was purple. But all of the others opinions count.
And incase you have not figured it out yet I think you should get blue.

One more for luck (Blue)

craig stole my thunder, i can't stop smiling whenever i see my yellow p5. yellow is zoom zoom, zoom zoom is yellow. for me, p5 has to be yellow. (even though black is nice too)

hmm..

well if your taking a poll on which color, ill be 2nd to say blue-thats the color of my choice.
I like yellow and red too (my last car was red) but they are bright cars and get noticed more, so if you speed you know what i mean:)
I like silver too. Im still deciding too:)

another thing is if you cruise at night with your friends, nobody will know if its blue or black. i had that with my dark blue mustang. "hey dude, which car is yours" "the mustang" "oh, the black one" "no stupid, its blue". i had to have a yellow, can't miss it. they should give insurance discounts to yellow cars because you can see them better :)
i hate to drive a silver in the rain though. gets lost and hard to see even if its in front of you.

I had the same problem choosing colors as you do. I really like the yellow one for all the reasons already stated. I, however bought the blue one, and this is why:

1. I'm a designer, so color is a big deal to me. Yellow is a fad color, which is VERY poplar right now. The reason is obvious - it's beautiful. Blue is more timeless - you won't get sick of it as quickly as the yellow. Depends on how long you plan to keep the car.

2. My brother is a cop and told me that if he sees several cars speeding and has to choose the one to ticket, he'll pick the car that sticks out the most.

3. I like the fact that my car is blue by day and black by night. It's subtle and sophisticated. Very understated, yet stunning in it's own way.

4. I like changing all the tubes and hoses under the hood to match the car. The yellow ones fade easily and get really dirty. The blue ones don't show as much dirt and grime.

5. The particular blue of the P5 is really unique, with few cars like it. You could compare it to the Lexus IS and the Civic SI blues, (roughly, not exactly). Both those cars have reputations for being very sporty, and not at all boring. So, by process of association, the P5 blue can be considered just as racey as any yellow car out there!

The bottom line is that it's your decision. I don't want to sway you to get a blue one just bacause I did. It's good that you posted this so that you can make a well informed decision. Good luck! Let us know what you got when you get it! Regardless of the color, you'll love it just cause it's a P5!

good points, adragonfly. u got a good point with the yellow one gets dirty easily, i have only had the yellow p5 for 3 weeks, i am washing it every single week, of course its sweet now, but i can't imagine washing it in the winter...

Thanks! I haven't needed a car wash yet, but I've only had it a week. Not looking forward to my first one though. Car washes are awful places here in L.A., but I live in an apartment where we aren't allowed to wash our cars at. I don't have a choice!:(

Its funny you said that Lambofsilence, with washing your yellow one once a week!

I was the same way...I did venture out to a car wash once. This car wash is in a very affluent town, where there are always Beamers, Mercedes, etc getting washed. The time I took my Pro-5 there was even a Bentley. So, going there I wasn't worried about my car getting wrecked. But damn! It was like $25 to get my car washed? Ouch, maybe im just cheap, but I thought that was pricey!

Now that we have a severe drought in Jersey, we can barely flush our toilets without risking getting in trouble with the state, so washing the car in the drive is out of the question....

So that guy with the Blue car posting a few up had a lot of good reasons, actually I agree with all of them to tell you the truth! But I just set my cruise control at 3 mph above the limit, use my turn signal. etc and I rarely have to worry about a cop....

We'll see what his verdict is after the weekend!

id have to say blue, but im a little bias to blue...its my favorite color, and i love my blue mp3. however, if its the attention you want, then yellow=go.

Minor thing... I'm not a guy! I'm a girl! Hehe:D And I didn't mean to make it sound like I'm a speed demon either. Everyon in L.A. drives over the speed limit since it's such a fast paced city. You'll get run off the road if you slow everyone down by follwing the actual speed limits! No one really gets ticketed since the cops let it slide most of the time, but on the one day that those cops are bored or not meeting their "quotas" I don't want to be the unlucky one who gets stopped!

3. I like the fact that my car is blue by day and black by night. It's subtle and sophisticated. Very understated, yet stunning in it's own way.

Exactly what I wanted to say! I always thought dark colours were a little more sophisticated, while the brighter colours were, wilder ... I guess that's the word.

Thanks for every ones replies and opinions. I have choosen yellow. I went to the dealership and could not help but fall in love with that car. The yellow and blue where beside each other and the yellow caught my eye more.
But check this out, all the colors cost the same except $100 more for metalic paints. In trying to make a deal he said he cant give me a discount on the yellow car but can on any other color. He said for any other color he can knock like $800 off. Im still sticking with yellow though. Anyways I did not buy the car this weekend because the monthly paymants are just a little out of my reach. Im going to save another $1000 for a larger down payment and get the car in a month. Thanks again everyone for your opinions and I will talk to you guys and girls later.

Todd (Yellow P5 in one month and counting)

Congrats on making a decision. I know you'll love your car. That's trua about not being able to discount the yellow one as much as the other colors. My dealer told me that people who wanted the yellow ones really wanted the yellow ones and were willing to pay for it. They don't have any problems getting those off the lot, so they don't need to discount them as an incentive. Waiting an extra month is a great idea, and I'm all for it. I was bale to put down 5 thousand, and am looking forward to making my first payment (just bought the car last week) because it'll be so low!:D

hrmmm yellow or blue, its a personal perference. i think all the colors look nice. i would personally pick blue over yellow. but i would tell you pick yellow since i havent even seen that color yet driving around in my area. :)
