Yellow Interior by Mazda?

Hi guys,

Yesterday, when I went to the Arena, I saw a yellow Mazda Protege5. I checked the interior of the car by the window, and I saw black and yellow leather seat with the mazda logo. Also, a part of the door was yellow. It's a 2002. Have you heard of this special option by Mazda or it's ''Homemade''?

Hey guys.

That leather that you mention with the logo is through the dealership. I know because it's what I have. Katskin's leather is different. Attached is a picture of what I believe are the leather seats you are referring to. I got this pic from cardomain.com (I believe) so it isn't my actual car, but the interior is identical.

By the way, the colour of the seats look washed out in the pics. The yellow actually matches the car

There was no factory option for leather in 2002. It may have been a dealer option but it wasn't a factory one. You can get embroidered logos with Katzkin (and probably others).

The leather shown in the photos are from Mazda dealerships, not Katskin (or factory). A few actually offered it. I got mine at Ontario Mazda in Mississauga, Ontario Canada. I was recently at Ontario Mazda & saw a Lazer Blue P5 with the indentical leather as mine (& the photos), only with blue instead of yellow.

My buddy owns a body shop & has seen tonnes of cars with aftermarket or custom leather & he was stunned at how clean cut & stitched the Mazda leather was. He swears that if he didn't know any better, he'd think it was factory.

Just to add, when introducing the Protege5 in North American car shows, I have seen the P5 display car with the exact same leather. Both at the International Car Show & on-line photos of the display.

i have the same interior.. except its silver and black.. and instead of the mazda logo it has the protege5 logo.. -=)

Like I said, I won't have any pics of my ride until the Spring. I have a scanner for a while, but there's too much snolw to take any pics right now.

I'm currently dealing the car. I need to know the extra cost of this yellow/black leather by Mazda when we origally bu the car. Also, what is the cost for just the black leather, not the special one.

I've got the same option on my 2003. It's all black with the "Protege5" logo stitched in. My dealer told me this option was $1000-$1500, but the guy (3rd party) that put it in said it would have been about half that without the "dealer inflation". I would say if you're looking to have it done, just place a call to your Mazda dealer, find out the upholsterer they use, and talk to them directly. He also told me you can get an aftermarket heated-seats kit added at the same time for not that much extra $$.

In any case, the leather option is very nice...I love mine.

Here is a picture of my dealer installed interior. Showcase Mazda here is phoenix had one of the yellow P5's last time I was down there (2 weeks ago) with the yellow on black interior. Looks nice good choice. According to my window sticker the interior was $2000.00.

Xtreme Package

I was going to have this put in a black Protege5 that I was interested in. However, I didn't buy the car cause it had over 7,000 miles on it; it was a demo version. The dealer was from Long Island and he told me that was the Xtreme Package which runs about 1k.
