I was driving Joyce Ann's MSP on Buford Highway headed back towards 285. Left a stoplight, and wasn't even paying attention, just cruising along.... Then I see the blue lights come on as a black Mustang GT pulls out and points at me.
I pull into a parking lot, roll down the windows, put the keys on the dash, and my hands on the steering wheel. He comes up and lets me know that I was doing 55 in a 35. I had no idea it was only 35 through there, nor did I know I was doing 55. He said they're doing a Zero Tolerance to speeding right in that area because they've recently had accidents with fatalities. He then had me roll the window up to check the tint. It registered at 28%, which technically is illegal, but he let it go. The last thing was the expired tag. It was Joyce Ann's car, but there's been a delay in some paperwork to get the car in her name...so I got cited for that, too, because I was driving.
Overall, the officer was very polite and friendly. He said he'd drop the expired tag ticket if we show proof of registration on the court date. I'm not upset at him for giving the ticket, it just sucks that I got a 20 over. I need to talk to the solicitor. See if I can just pay the fine and not get any points on my license. It's been over 3 years since I've gotten a ticket. My court date for both citations is Jan. 2.
On a side note. When things like this happen, it usually happens in "threes" for me. So the first bad thing is nearly dropping my engine and ripping the motor mount out. This ticket is the 2nd. Now I just have to prepare for the 3rd.
