XelderX's BG FSP Build

Is there another car in the SP appendix that has a larger UD/BD than the Protege's 14 years?

The NA and NB Miatas combined make 15 years :). It makes my class participation fun.

With the engine closer toward the firewall, how does that affect the axle angles? Or was the engine just rotated further back?

The axles shouldn't be an issue. The motor is about 1/2" higher than it was before and it's just angled more straight up. The front to back orientation of the block hasn't changed . I took a closer look at the clearances last night and with the motor squared up in the chassis there isn't anything rubbing on the back of the intake manifold. I'll have the passenger mount finished tonight.

Hopefully these will be the last pictures of the car this color. I'm taking her to the paint shop on Friday. I've spent the last few days removing lights, scuffing the paint, and taping up the trim.

Probably better in the long run also, flat/satin black tend start looking bad after a while especially if you get oil etc on them because of the lack of clear coat or sealer. Look forward to seeing it.

I almost forgot...I got the car wieghed on a good set of scales last Sunday. She had a little less fuel in her than what I believe will be needed for concrete. Total weight is 2221 lbs. Race weight should be around 2230, but that will require a little more weight removal. I plan on lightening up the motormounts and possibly the coilover bodies later in the season. With me in the car the cross weights aren't too far off either.

Left front = 780 Right front = 714
Left rear = 431 Right Rear = 445

Just some minor adjustments with the coilovers and that should be taken care of. I probably won't get a chance to do that until after the Dixie tour.

I'm very excited about the new paint job, but I'm starting to feel the time crunch between now and the Dixie tour.

Can't wait to see her painted... Then the 'frankenprotege' will need a new name.

no. If you put makeup and a nice suit on Frankenstein, he's still Frankenstein ;)

I can't wait to see this thing @ Dixie.

I cracked the lid on the can of new paint today to see exactly what color it is. You guys are going to s*** when you see it. I hope to get a few pictures Monday evening.

In a "holy crap that's awesome" sort of way, or a "holy crap that... PURPLE! (blarf)" sort of way?

new paint is just excess weight to carry around. ;)

(at least, that's how i explain my car's appearance to myself. rocker rust = weight loss)

can't wait to see how it looks, justin!

My FSP car is rattle canned on top of peeling bondo.

Van

that sounds about right for SP.
