I have a very strong assumption that BEGi put a 14psi wastegate on my turbo, and my exhaust might be causing a few pounds of boost creep, hence the 16.8psi from the tuning. Why do I think they made this mistake? Because I searched up the part numbers off my WG and found a thread on m.net from 2006, some dude bought the same kit with the same turbo from begi and had the same problem of over boosting. The cause? a 14psi wastegate.

They're still insisting I put on the OEM cat to see how it affects the levels, besides the fact I've never heard of 6psi+ of boost creep, I am not about to run an oem cat on my turbo car because they can't supply the proper parts. Therefore, I decided to go ahead and buy myself a new 7psi wastegate from ATP. Since they're in Norcal, I should get it quickly. If once I install it, and my boost levels go down as they should, I am gonna be up BEGi's ass for reimbursement. If it doesn't work and I'm still boosting too high, then no worries I'll send it back and pay like $15 restocking fee.

Still waiting on my oil restrictor fitting to get here so I can see if that will solve my oil burning problem. If it doesn't, I may be looking at another motor rebuild.

I would find it very believable that with one small mistake you'd get over-boost like that, because I've been there and dealt with it.

When I installed my latest turbo it would do 15-16psi on an 8psi wastegate actuator. My issues was that I had pre-loaded the wastegate actuator too much. The preload made the wastegate require more force to open. Once I loosened it up (a lot) I was down around 8-10psi actuation pressure. I also ported the internal wastegate opening and now it only creeps 1-2psi, instead of 4-6psi.

They supposedly already ported the turbo to not boost creep at all, so that base should be covered already "supposedly". What exactly do u mean preload? Like how was the wastegate preloaded?

I had to pull on the linkage to get it to line up and connect with the arm on the wastegate valve, and compress the wastegate spring in the process. The easy way to check is to see if how hard it is to open the wastegate by hand. When mine was cranked down too hard I needed two hands to crack it open, now it's only a moderate effort with one hand. Just so we're all on the same page, I'm talking about the linkage in this picture:

What I noticed that convinced me I needed to port my turbo was that the wastegate 'flapper' was way larger than the WG port in my turbo. If you have the opportunity to crack the turbo apart and look at it, I definitely would.

Made a spur of the moment purchase, feed style side skirts. If you don't know what they look like...

Should look damn good with the diffuser I get ;)

Still waiting on my damn oil restrictor, almost two weeks wtf. Wastegate will be here wednesday.

Cheers

How in the bloody hell do you jack your car up man? Hahaha. I have troubles with mine sometimes.

^ have to roll onto two by fours n s*** and do this whole dance just to get in on all 4 jack stands.

Oil restrictor received and installed, also topped off the oil so I can see how much it goes down in the following days. I really hope this is all it was that was causing me to burn oil. Also talked to BEGi and they said they would not reimburse me for the WG I purchased as it is not one they would buy but, they would send me a lower psi WG to try out, so I took the deal. Now I got 2 WGs to try out and see which works out best.

I also got a hook up on a diffuser, so I might be getting a diffuser and trunk in the next month or so YEAH BUDDY

Went to go out yesterday and had a big coolant puddle, checked it out and found that it was leaking from the heater core hose pretty good, looks like the hard line might be cracked but not sure yet. I am about to go out and drain the coolant so I can get a better look. If it is in fact the hardline, I will be pullling the dash today for replacement.

I also paid for my Autokonexion trunk and finish panel, I will be picking them up next friday and if I'm lucky, my side skirts will show up next week. The diffuser will be purchased in the next week or so as well. After that, and xmas shopping, I am going to attempt to purchase a gt300 hood from Chaser through the automotive shop I am close with, it should be a clean deal if its one company to another but we shall see. Then after that all I'll need is new/clean bumpers, and new fenders or fender flares(I am still undecided with this) then I can get the car painted and she will be beautifulllllll.

Fixed my leak, pulled the hose to find the hard pipe was pretty bent up from the turbo install. Straightened it out the best I could, put it back together and was still leaking so I replaced the factory clamp with a worm clamp and boom, no more leak. So glad I didn't have to pull le dash haha

Cars dope bro! It was great to finally meet you on saturday, it definitely won't be the last time. Oh, and thanks for the ride, i wants turbo now.

Yeah buddy! Only took a few years haha. No problem man, I hope it was as fast as you hoped :P

You going to be selling any of those stock body parts?

Not that shipping won't kill me..

Nope, trunk is staying with me for painting practice and finish panel is going to the woman. Maybe next time ;)
