So clean it, leave the openings open, then after its clean, plug them so paint can't get in then within a few days of install, flush?

That is what i do. I also run fresh cleaner throught the holes while cleaning. Just set it on top of a bucket and go to town man.

I followed ur exact instructions, flat black flameproof VHT, 400 sand paper (2thumbs)

For sure. The first bake is now done, only 2 more to go.

It's a brownish black, not really what I was hoping for, should of got gloss black. Oh well, better than how it was

mine came out like a semi gloss black and i bought reg black...

Yeah, I cleaned it up good and sanded the hell outta it. I'll post some pre-baking pics.

didn't tape off the exhaust side? I suppose it'll get burned off anyway...

It's not suppose to get burned off but no, the hot side was brown, might as well spray the whole thing.

Just looked it at, looks more like the flat black it should instead of the brownish color after 2 bakings
