WW Hood Shipping..Anyone got one yet?

yea, whether or not I paint the hood orange has yet to be determined but regardless, the grates will be powdercoated or painted the same color as my wheels (gunmetal)

Im not sure what you mean about their solution for water in the engine being the best looking....underneath those metal grates are pieces of plexi glass which i dont think you can see in those pics (ill look in a seC), the exact same shape as the grates, held on by the other end of the nuts that hold in the grates. Looks pretty cool I think, but i still have to come up with some sort of cover for th events on my own I can snap on quickly so I can drive around without the plexi and just cover it when I need to

another option which I will look into (just got the hood this morning so i havent had time yet) is putting the metal grates on the underside of the hood where the plexi is now, there is the same area flushed out on the edges of the hole on the bottom so I think the metal will fit right where the plexi is now, then you wouldnt have the thick metal edges showing and the grate itself would be recessed that much more.

I agree though, there is so much metal showing and its so shiny that it doesnt look like it belongs...

protege5gurly: does your hood have functional vents? I thought it did but it doesnt look like it in your pic?

No, the APC hood is non-functional. However, with a dremel you could easily cut vents into the forward "lip" inside the "valley" sections of the hood and fiberglass some vent material in. I am seriously considering this mod since any water that might enter will fall between the exhaust shield and radiator (basically the way water would on an Aerogear Predator hood). When I go turbo, my only issue will be to install a heat shield above the turbo to keep water away from it.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!

That hood looks F@#$ING SWEET!
I can't wait to get mine!
Damn three weeks is gonna take forever!
Too bad the vents on the prototype were a different design than what came on the production hood?
The original vents were done with the classic WW mesh like in their bupers and body kits?
Wonder why they changed it?
Oh well!
Hope to see my hood SOON!
Matt:eek:

I must say i am quite happy with my apc hood too, there are a few imperfections, but i dare someone to find a perfect aftermarket hood. I have yet to see one. Razor youre not thinking of a APC product are you? I remember you giving me hell when i posted i might get my hood. LOL had to give you hell, and as a side note, i got mine from summitracing.com. It was like 580, nopi might be a little cheaper, hell i could have picked it up from nopi, i dont know why i didnt think of that. The corporate office is about 30 minutes from me.

LOL aww com'n now you know you wanna get away from the factory look. I do know this, on the apc show car the hood is blue, as is all the DGM parts that are on it. I saw it at a local godfather customs show. I have pics but they arent the best.

yeah i guess its not too bad, but i always looked at it like this when i was narrowing down my decision. When someone sees it from a distance they are going to think its a black primered factory hood, where as they see the APC or wings west or the DG ram air, it looks like a primered aftermarket hood till you get up close. But i must say this we do need someone with the blue Ion hood so we can see what it looks like. My only concern would be as to how well the blue weave matches the color of the car, the orange matches good, and yellow too. They are easy colors to match though. I think the blue might be just bright enough for your car, but too bright for mine

<--wants a stock looking fiberglass hood with vents that won't allow water to pass through.

isnt stock looking with vents an oxymoron?

and water doesnt pass through the wings west vents unless you have the plexi off
