Sorry for the basic question, i have my 2010 CX9 up on ramps doing a trans and engine fluid replace and I cant find the Trans Fluid Levelling adjustment Plug.

Can you point me the right direction please?

Is it ok to fill the trans through the trans dip stick?

Thanks

Ben

It is fine to fill through the dip stick tube. Just get a properly sized funnel so that you don't dump it all over the place. I would suggest that you measure what you take out and add back just a bit less through the tube and then commence checking the level from there. Don't forget to put it in Drive and Reverse a time or two to be sure the new fluid is fully pumped through the transmission.

Many thanks for coming back, I ended up filling throughout the dip stick and using it to set the trans level. Hopefully the trans dip stick is accurate.

I did find what I think was the levelling plug, its in a very tight place and you'd need a abnormally small Hex to get it off.

In summary the Engine Oil was very easy and the trans fluid was a pain in the arse, I forget how badly Trans fluid old and new smells.

I was also surprised to hear the Mazda dealer uses Max LifeFluid in the trans front diff. I came to them with a 10 Litre can which they filled with 6 litres of the fluid they use. Course I did not use all 6 litres. They did not sell 1litre bottles.

We'll she how the CX9 runs, BTW I did not change the Trans Fluid because it was changing badly just wanted to make sure its serviced as I tow my boat short distances most weekends.

Cheers, happy driving !
