ok, i bought some sylvania silverstar H7's for my P5 last night...went home to put them in and they don't fit the ******* harness. am i missing something here?

no...sorry, i should have been more clear...the plugs on the bulb do not fit the stock harness. i thought the H7's were the right bulbs, but there's no way they'll fit.

H7's are the right bulbs, replaced mine about 7 times already within the last year.

Hold on while I take a cig to clear my head; nasty flu right now then I'll write a explantation out.

Ok you don't have to unclip the white harness.
Pull back the rubber boot, till where you can see the wire clip (silver).
On the bottom of is where you can move the wire clip (silver) out so the whole bulb assembly comes free.
From there remove the bulb holder (black and has little nobs on the bottom, you see it sitting on top of the big black piece that the wire harness attaches to.

Once that is remove the bulb and black piece it sits in will be free.

Pull the bulb out of this little holder, and place the new one in there.

Then place the thing back into the bigger black hold that has the wire harness attached to.
And pop the wire back over the whole thing so it locks down. This is the hardest part of the whole thing and why you will hate H7s from now on.

thank you sir. yeah, that makes sense that you don't have to pull the white harness off at first. i didn't think to take the bulb out of the "bigger black holder" (it was late and dark :p ) i'll give it another shot tonight.

thanks again!

ps...hope you feel better soon!

can you take some pics of the install and post time later? i need to change mine too cause one fried and i have no tech knowledge but i would like to try to figure out how do it myself...

please post pics of the process if you can!

It is explained in the car manual. It has drawings also, so you should be able to do it after reading it :D

on the low beams there is an adapter that u have to pull off in order to put the new bulbs in.
ill take a pict if yall want!!!

yea could you please LapisBlueProteg?

also do you have the sylvania silverstars? did they make burn marks in your headlights?

7 times? Why?

Hell if I know, the damn things keep burning out. Will probably take it to the dealer to see if something is wrong with the wiring. Other P5ers have had bulb problems but haven't seen one this bad.

I just installed the SilverStar H7s last night...the install was a pain in the butt (especially the passenger side), and I really don't see much difference in the colour temperature of the lights. I was expecting the white/blue colour, and these are still white/yellow. Nice light, but not worth the $50CDN I paid for them.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of the Silverstars, but that really turns me away. I have a blue MP3 and I want a blue tint from my lights.

Netguy: how is the distance of the beam is it a lot easier to see at night?

I would say it might be a little better, but it was already great to begin with. I don't want to sound like I hate these bulbs...they are nicer than the stock ones...but if you're looking for the true blue/purple HID look, these won't do it.

Then again...they won't melt your headlight housings, either :)
