WTF is it with dealers?! OEMAutoPartz.com for the win!

I was cool to the parts guy, bought ten quarts of fluid, coolant, etc and then asked for some prices on the motor mounts. He said he was giving me a discount (the fluid was $8.80 a quart so he gave me a bit there), but the prices he quoted for the mounts were even higher than their retail price!. I ended up ordering from OEMAutoPartz.com and got them for about HALF his prices. Is there a worse way to sour brand loyalty? God I can't wait for these guys to go the way of the dinosaurs. Such an antiquated scheister-driven sales model.

As a bonus, I see Mazda folks bragging here how they get the trans fluid for $3.00/quart since they work for a dealer. Now I am sure the dealer is not losing money, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they sell to their own at cost. So at $10/quart, I deserve a 333% markup for being a Mazda owner and wanting to use Mazda fluid?!

While dealers do have huge markups on their parts, especially the cheaper stuff like small parts, fluids, filters, etc. Each dealer dictates their own pricing, so its really unfair to group them all together. Like onlinemazdaparts.com is a Mazda Dealer with pretty decent pricing - not all dealers are the same.

You paid only 8.80 a quart for trans fluid? It is very expensive here. It costs close to 14 bucks at the dealership here in nyc. You got pretty luck with getting the fluid that cheap.

Sounds correct. All of the "Star" dealerships here in Glendale, CA are old school scheisters. OEMAutopartz.com is actually a somewhat local southern CA dealer.
