WTF happened to the MONSTER MIATA?

250hp? Come on. WEAK for a v8.

teheh, 500, that's what I am talking about.

But the thing that always gets me is that Warren is putting 450rwhp on a built motor.

I don't find it worth it. I remember back in the day when I came across it I was like "ZOMG" but now that I've seen what Miata's can do WITHOUT the V8's it just seems stupid.

I know I'm a traitor to the naturally aspirated world, but the power delivery of a naturally aspirated engine with decent power is amazing.

plus.. spend 3-4k dollars to turbo a 1.6 and be at like 200hp or spend the same for a smooth powerband 250hp 5.0... meh

I think you'd be spending more than 3-4k.

Also, I love how he "sleeps" it. With "MONSTER MIATA" on the seats and the stickers plastered all over the car.

She's a sleeper..

5.0 is a waste of time. I would never spend money on that swap. I never heard of this particular miata in the vid. But it does look outdated alittle. Like I said, I would do any LS series motor from the vette.

there's one for sale near DC if you want it... only $20k

1990 MONSTER Miata – this is Car #9 of 300 original ultra-high performance MONSTERs produced by MonsterMotorsports, including a Ford 5.0L V8, T-5 transmission (w/0.68-to-1 Overdrive), and limited-slip 7.5” rear-end with cryogenically hardened half-shafts. There are simply too many changes made to list, but the power (225 BHP + 300 ft-lbs of torque at 3,000rpm), acceleration (0-60 in 4.6s), and great visual appeal in & out make this a must for any person who wants to go really FAST, in a rare sports car.

This excellent car is red with a custom black/red leather interior and has only 75,000miles and is being offered for only $19,999 – will consider another interesting motorcycle, sports car (Miata, Mustang GT, Corvette, SAAB TC), or really cheap (but in annual) airplane in partial/full trade. This is a California car, and just way too much fun to drive; it’s never been driven in the rain (intentionally), and is totally awesome in all ways. Yes, even with the big engine it CAN still get > 20 mpg on the highway. Send me a message to discuss, or arrange to see. Out-of-towners, use DCA, IAD, or BWI airports.

Images below are low-resolution ... and betray the solid red colour of MONSTER #9. Send an e-mail request for high-res pixs and detailed description of the car. It's a nice w/e ... come out and see this MONSTER!

Man...if I had my choice...I'd stay Mazda and swap in a 13B (it's been done). Heh heh.
And this vid is from the 1990s somewhere...so outdated yes, but as Kristin said..people are still doing it.

The video had to be 1993 or before because the 1.8 hadn't come out yet
