mod #1 is a means of checking fuel pressure
and if its over 1600, WOT, during peak load, then you do not need internals .

agreed you gotta have a means for monitoring your fuel pressure first. anything over 1600 your safe, but depending on your level of mods even if you are seeing 1600 psi on the stocker i think its a good idea to upgrade anyway. car will perform better and you wont have to worry about if and when your stocker gives up.
