WTB FMIC (Bolt on)

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a FMIC that's bolt on. I'd rather not cut up, weld on, or mangle any part of my MSP to install it. If anyone has one for sale, or knows someone who is selling theirs I'd really appreciate any information!

Thanks guys!

Are you absolutely insane? Run your fingers across the fins of an intercooler and watch what happens. Do you really think that will have any stopping effect on 1.5 tons of metal and plastic at 35MPH?

Not really willing to kill myself or my loved ones for something I don't really even need.

lol yea...cuz there isnt anything between the bumper and the seats, oh wait...
i could have my crash bar in, but i dont, just cuz i dont feel like havin it in there haha

nothing that is specifically designed to protect you in a crash. you hit that engine block right, and it'll end up in your lap.

this is absolutely the stupidest thing to ever be said on these forums. youre willing to risk getting blacklisted by insurance because "you feel like it"? you understand if your car is damaged in a claim where they have to inspect for frame damage you WILL be dropped by your policy and your rates for the rest of your life will triple, right? let me repeat that: your entire life. i dont feel like shelling out tens of thousands of dollars because i was trying to prove some sort of ignorant point about a ******* crash proofing mechanism.
and economic issues aside, this is ******* retarded. and anyone who defends the crash bar as non-essential is a ******* retard.

Very well said. That had to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever read.

@justanothermp5: Let us know when you rear-end somebody.

im sorry you feel that way, but i actually know how to drive so...dont really plan on getting into an accident anytime soon
and the brackets i have supporting my fmic now wouldnt work with the crash bar, so i guess that is the reason i dont run one, i could easily get it to fit
but its not important to me

i would....but according to you guys, i would prob die if i did...sooo, yea

im not saying you dont know how to drive, im saying yorue not the only car on the road. ive been in 3 accidents, none of which were my fault (read: ZERO fault.) one of them came out to ~$3600 in damages - someone hit me because "she thought she had a left arrow" and just drove into my car at 35mph. the crash bar was replaced - and if it wasnt there, id be suffering the consequences.

she could just as easily have hit you, and if she did, and shes not 100% at fault, you WILL be dropped.
you could be visiting a friend in a no-fault state, and if you get hit, then you are AUTOMATICALLY partly to blame for the accident. thats how no-fault states work. and if youre partly to blame and have no crash bar, enjoy taking the bus every day.

i have a motorcycle lol i wouldnt need to take the bus

but hey, im cool with it, so dont really see why u guys care...at all
you'd be riding the motorcycle with no insurance (even more stupid to do btw)

but enough of that. I'd say the core size mentioned earlier should work just fine. mine is slightly narrower, taller, and thicker, and I moved some stuff around to fit. if you mount it slightly rear of flush with the front of the crash bar it should work famously.

I have a feeling no one is going to get through to this guy and it's going to turn into a flame war so I'm just going to say this:

-From personal experience, you want to keep your crash bar. No amount of horsepower is worth risking your life. Ever.
-Since you are mostly stock, a 21x5x2.5 or 2.25 core (not including endtanks) is a good size and will be solid past 10PSI.
-Check eBay for a universal by searching "Mazdaspeed Protege universal front mount intercooler"
-For piping you can also search eBay for with "universal intercooler piping _Xsize piping you need___" Look for the set with two U-bends. There are a million ways you can run the piping, but if you can't find anything just PM me and I'd be happy to help you.
-Trust me, you have no need for a $1200+ kit.
-If you need any other help, ask me or any experienced person on this website (Wagonbacker9, yudkib, 505zoom, Spiced MSP, etc.) and we'll help you the best we can as long as you're open to different views and opinions.

jeez flame much, just chill and get back to topic. i just ordered a 27x5.5x2.5 interFooler kit, so i'll let u know how it fits, shouldn't really be a problem
