WTB: Cobb Shifter Weight for MS3

Since I have started auto-crossing the MS3, an issue has popped up where the transmission will go from 2nd gear to neutral during hard braking. Sometimes I can catch it, sometimes I don't and it will ruin a run here or there when I look like an idiot mashing the gas in neutral on corner exit.

I've read around and the COBB shifter weight is described as helping to "keep the car in gear during aggressive driving". Plus the price is only $25 so its worth a shot before trying a whole new shifter mechanism. Problem is COBB discontinued the shifter weight ~2 months ago so everybody I have checked with (jscspeed, **********, rallysportdirect) is out of stock.

Does anybody have a shifter weight that I could purchase? The sooner the better since I plan on running in events in Atlanta and Laurens, SC over the next couple of weekends. Thanks.
 
I was just shopping for one myself. It seems like street_unit may have them in stock. It says discontinued, but I got all the way to the Checkout stage and it didn't say it wasn't available. Unfortunately they want $35.

You could also try simply removing your stock weight. I tried this just to try it and it sure changes how the shifter feels, but the efforts are too light and the gear engagements are too 'gravelly' for my tastes.

You could save $35 by just removing material from the stock weight until you like the feel, but then you don't have a back-to-stock option. Maybe a "WTB: hackable stock shifter weight" is in order. :)

If there's more than one person looking to sell a Cobb weight, I'd be interested after Boom got his.

SU will let you checkout, but then when your shipping invoice shows up it will take out the shifter weight and only include the other items. It was only after sending an e-mail that they let me know they were out of stock.

treedspeed, do you know anything that will work?
 
i've had that problem forever...basically since i got the car. and i don't autox or anything, i just drive aggressively. unfortunately, the fix is to get a new ******* transmission cause the synchros are ****** up.
things you can try before replacing the tranny (cause who the **** wants to replace the tranny) are mt-90 tranny fluid.
rear mount and tranny side mount
shifter bushings
short shifter
heavy knob

i'll tell you what i've done...
shifter bushings...all three mounts, twm short shifter...no shifter weight.
i haven't tried mt-90 yet or a heavier knob, but i will eventually.
honestly, it's a problem with the syncho
 
I am currently running Royal Purple synthetic gear oil and have the shifter bushings from TWM, I have not had any issue with popping out of gear while aggressive driving.

I don't know. Put the order in on 7/9 but haven't heard anything back and my card hasn't been charged yet. Gotta give them a call tomorrow. Did you have any luck yourself?
