dont you need mad things for the standback...like a pnp conector and a this and a that to get the full setup????? how much would a custom tune be....sanch can you pm that info too

Tricking Yes but having something thats universal I am not sure. The Ap may not trick your ecu but it isn't designed exactly for you specifically. Cobb doesn't make most of thier parts for our platform anymore. With a standback you can have diffrent parts. Lets say you have a fmic with a cheaper company it has to be cobb's front mount because that is what they are tunning for. Although I am postive the give a lot of room for error its just not as good as being able to do thing specifically and accordingly. So many people made the switch if you go on the **************** they will tell you the same thing. Not saying this forum isn't great because it is but the people on that forum are just straight all about modding the car to its full potiential. YOu can't get full potiential out of the cobb you can only get as far as the guy from cobbs car can. I am sure it is a great piece and I am not hating on it but for a real car enthusianst CP-E Standback is the way to go.

It isn't hard to find one used for 550-650 Brand new they run to be 800 but yeah. For a used one it comes with the pnp and the standback and no you don't need mad things. Again I am not trying to be a salesman I can give a s*** if you buy my part or buy it brand new but I am telling you it doesn't take very much to get it working and all set up. Its like my other post said you are learning how tune your car if you do it yourself. Your weather conditions are being put into consideration and exact number are being put into the ecu. HERE iS A LITTLE SOMETHING SOMETHING!

Let me ask you a question I am not on my cobb as much as cp-e I really didn't know that so my fault on that but does cobb still make their parts for our car. Like exhaust and all that stuff.

cobb halted prpduction on mazda parts such as fmic and downpipe....their going to continue to produce the access port and stand behind there products 100%.....you can also tell because they make no parts for the 2010 speed.....

Thats weak why would the stop make quality parts.

No one was buying them. They are fist and foremost a business and they have to make decisions that are smart for their business.

Everyone here can tell that you're a CPE fanboi, that's cool but the OP wasn't looking for a Standback. He wanted an AP and its really none of your business why.

i mean cpe is a much bigger business and they put out high quality parts too even tho i herd some bs about the downpipe....but like im sure the standback is great i just dont no the ap seems to be so much easier and a custom map sounds perfect....i jus wish there company still was big into speeds..like what are people going to use in the future

stand back or ap

Theirs really only one difference. If u get an ap u can still get the car prof. tuned but it has to be by a cobb tuner. If you get a standback u can get it prof tuned by anyone. And ill tell u right now that the best tuners are not cobbtuners. U dont see ams or dave from buscher using cobb. Plus it takes forever to tune with cobb cause first u gotta flash the ap then u gotta flash the car nd dynotime is $.. Plus you saw the video. the standback made 40 more whp than the ap with the same mods.

The big difference is Standback is a piggy back intercepting the signal and the AP is a flash of the ECU itself. Anyone can tune the AP with ATR, professional or not.

As far as the video - it was fun, but pointless. Every variable of the Cobb AP is tunable with ATR. They used a tune made by Christian with Cobb. Ok - obviously he was more conservative than Laloosh was with the Standback tune. IMO it was not an unbiased apples to apples comparison.

It's in the tune, not the device used to create the tune. I hate the concept of piggy backs but I know they work for many. If there were better custom tuners using one product or the other that would certainly make me consider it ;) But I'm still running mediocre OTS tunes.

Regarding AMS, they will tune any piggyback and a long list of other products including the AP so you are wrong.

Buschur Racing...another EVO tuner (AMS and Buschur are irrelevent to Mazda don't you think?)
They flash the ECU themselves, they aren't using a piggy back like CPE. Really pointless to bring up either of these companies in the discussion.

No offense to CPE, but I don't think they are in the same league as AMS or Buschur.

their not. not even close. but i dnt think cobb is either. but thats besides the point. u say any1 can tune with cobb. but when i went to get tuned, i couldnt go to the good suby and evo guys because they dnt deal with cobb. I had to go to a cobb tuner.

I don't know about Buschur but AMS will tune with the Cobb AP on a couple of different cars, but if they'll tune the MS3 is another question :)

And if you use the ATR software, you can have anyone tune it that is willing.
