Kansei's car is sweet

I don't know US models too well, but the Canadian 2003 Protege5s (not 2002) came with black headlight housings

^and it would be a whole lot cheaper/easier to find then actually getting the black ones. I've been pretty religious about seeing what's on the FS boards, and I don't recall seeing them here (or in Canada) in the past year...not once.

Yes, that is Kansei's car and I know he painted them himself, as many others have done. Myself included. Look in the how-to section. Will cost you about $10-$15 in material and 8 hours or so. Helluva lot cheaper than $600 for the 2003 Canadian lights.

Kansei actually has the Canadian P5 headlights.. check the other forum under the Protege section in the thread I started about "other Mazda mods".

However, if I ever decide to this myself I will probably just paint them as well. It's a lot cheaper, and if you're patient and careful enough it will look just as good as the OEM Canadian ones.

That's right, he replaced them after his accident last year. I know he painted his original ones black.

I looked into the Canadian ones. My first of stock lights were painted flat black. My modified lights are painted gloss black. I like the gloss black better.

Did my own hightemp BBQ flat black. $9 total as opposed to $600 for Canadians.

Now, is this in the right section?

look at the how to, i did it awhile back and it came out beautiful, you can never tell they were stock headlightss...i have pics if you want to see them on my car

and i used the BBQ flat black(same as pro5x2), and took out the reflector, and put a LED in there, looks nicee.. but i wish i would of went gloss black i think it would of looked better, but i have no regrets or mist inside the headlight
