Why on earth would you say that?

AMD freaking owns Pentium...check the benchmarks.

I agree wholeheartedly with 32 bit chips... but I dont know about 64bit.. he could be right...

and YES www.newegg.com
IS your friend... best customer service you'll ever find. RMA's are EASY... and I know... twice

Yes i know about newegg. i'm just seeing if anyone had one before I go buy one from them. and mp3 you must be confused. AMD makes intel look like poo

Ok, First of all: (wrong) . Now that we got that out of the way:

Let me say that I'm a hard core AMD person (and a hard core computer guy lol). But Intel's coming out w/ some good stuff. The Pentium D is a friggin BEAST, and they're supposed to be putting out a Pent. D w/ HyperThreading (bowdown) here pretty soon. But I digress, for the money, AMD all the way. Too bad there's no true 64-bit operating systems yet :(

well, ya. How about an AFFORDABLE for the masses 64 bit OS...

If i had a picture of me shitting on a mac i would post it. But I dont so you will have to use your imagination.

seriously though you can build a PC that is twice as fast as a G5 for a lot less.

haha, I do build my own PC's, its just that I used to own (and currently own) a couple Apples as well.. they are good for what they are, and believe it or not, Apples age better. even old ones can run the newest software and OS's no problem.

certain things just work better on apples, and others on a PC. I happen to like both.

Ya no joke. I am an apple-o-phobe personally, but I will admit they damn good at graphical and video applications.

Setup a dual core AMD with dual 7800 geforce cards, 4 gigs of ram and you will run circles around a G5 in the video editing and gfx. And it will still be cheaper in the end.

lol, where have some of you been the last few months...

Windows64 came out a while ago, its a free trade in for windowsxp pro owners.
Im not sure why most people would want it, since all it really does is add support for over 4 gigs of ram- so if you arent running a server...

Athlonx2 dominates the pentiumD pretty much hands down, most importaintly in heat (or lack thereof)

PentiumD with hyperthreading has been out since may, its called the extreme edition- a worthless waste of money. When you already have 2 real cores, adding 2 imaginary ones is pointless for anything you would be doing on a desktop- the benchmarks can attest to this.

But I digress...
If you are getting a 64 (single core), make sure you get a venice/sandiego-They overclock way better than the previous winchester/clawhammer cores (mine hit 2.8ghz on the stock air cooler) and have better memory support even if you arent ocing.

Best motherboard hands down is the dfi nforce4 ultra D or SLI.

Make sure you have a power supply (24pin) that can handle the 64.

Apples age better. even old ones can run the newest software and OS's no problem.

Normally I would agree, but with apple switching over to x86 (intel), this will not be true for apples bought now- 2 years from now, new software for current apples will be hard to come by.

The nice thing is that if you go with a x86 box now, you can probably switch to osx. There are pirate types that already have pre release versions of x86 osx running on their pcs.
