I replaced the original ignition wires when I bought this car a couple years ago. The parts store gave me NGK ZE36 wires instead of the ZE52 which are the correct ones. The ZE36 are for 97-98 protege 1.8L and are a couple inches longer in length. I didn't really think too much about this because they worked fine. However now that I am trying to reduce fuel consumtion and have experimented with long reach plugs, I am wondering if the longer wires will have any negative impact.
Do you think it would be worth it to drop another 50 bucks on the correct NGK wires?
