so i wrecked my car last night... was approaching a turn, looked down and back up for my glasses... next thing i knew i was in the other lane, jerked the wheel... hit a road sign and bashed the back of my car against a telephone pole... then went right back across the street into a ditch :(

i'm so ****** i don't even realize it. my parents get back in town today, they have no idea what happened because they had no service where they went... it was nice knowing you all *sigh*

i don't exactly remember, but i think it was actually my glasses that i looked down to find and grab right before the turn

they were sunglasses btw... i wear contacts all day :\

i can't stop thinking about it, and why i couldn't keep control. 4th gear going into a way long sweeper turn, i guess i really didnt have a chance. maybe if i double clutched into 2nd i coulda saved it? who knows..

yea. . i got distracted while drivign a lot more than i used to. .. .. ..damn carputer. .. .lol...ive been lucky a lot too...::knocks on wood::

sorry to hear, at least you didn't get seriously injured...

What exactly would double clutching have done for you? All downshifting would have done is upset the balance of the car even more, and could have resulted in you hitting the pole with the driver's door first. Don't second guess yourself, these things happen. Be glad you didn't hit some old lady and her poodle on the side of the road, and that you aren't in the hospital with a brain bleed. Relax, take a breath and enjoy life. They build other cars, they don't build extra arms and legs and stuff - yet.

haven't talked to insurance yet... that part scares me a little bit. i guess i need to wait for my dad to get back for that... then we'll take care of it. but we paid for the car in full, so i'm pretty sure i'm gonna be out a few thousand... gah.....

assuming it isn't totalled, will they give enough to get everything fixed up in a body shop?

i'm afraid the axle may have snapped, the front wheels were turned different directions and teh steering was broke...

they wilol be able to fix it, i have driven a solara to a dealership that when the steering wheel was 90 to the right, the car went straight, of course that was so the wheel that wanted to go left was countered by the wheel that wanted to go right...

it was nutz but it was fixed... post some pics, i dun think it could be too bad...??
