Wrapping Gloss Plastic CX-5 Trim

I like the piano black trim, it adds some class to the sporty interior. IMHO, I don't think simulated wood grain is an appropriate application especially in that type of vinyl material but if you really want to change the look, maybe something nice in carbon fiber might work. Check out sets like this: http://www.dashkitspecialties.com/diagrams/mazda/MAC513B.GIF

I actually ordered small samples of the matte black that 3m makes as well as the black carbon fiber just to see what each looks like. I don't tend to like the dash kits on sale at the moment as they tend to be a bit thick and change way the trim looks compared to the panels around it. I have seen the 3m used in person and it looks pretty good. Anyway, it all depends on what the samples look like.

I'd imagine Plasti-Dip might be a good option. Spray it on, and it'll be a nice matte finish. Peel it off if you're sick of it, or if you need to re-apply in case of a scratch. Easy and cheap.

I agree but different strokes for different folks. If you do the vinyl, are you planning to remove the trim piece and do a complete wrap so you don't see any edges?

i'm not a fan of wood trims, but i'm also not a fan of that shiny black piece (i dont get how thats 'classy') i wish it was the brushed metal look like all the other accents in the car

I am planning to completely remove the trim piece. 3m does make some simulated metal wraps and I was actually going to order a sample of that tonight.

Good luck cleaning overspray from plasti-dip in the interior. Unless one removes all the trim pieces.

Only wrap I would do is a metallic 3M vinyl.
