would you keep ms3 or trade in if more $$$ became available to you?

well if space and 4 doors is ur concern... get a cadillac cts-v the 08 or 09 i believe is supposed to have the 7.0 liter found in the vette. car runs between 45k-60k but its very top notch and ur talkin 12's on a stock car.
if i had the money i would get that...i wanted a cts-v before i got the ms3 but i knew i wouldnt be able to manage the payments on that thing...it was like 40k for the 6liter n/a

check this out, 6.2liters of supercharged godliness. 550hp 550 tq, this one is gona be like 100k prolly.

Keep the MS3. Juggling cars sucks and you always wind up losing money. I would take the additional 10k and use it to make the 3 a beast!

If you were dead-set on switching (or if it made more sense for your situation), I would seriously consider the G8. That's a lot of car for the money...

Thank you for all your suggestions. This decision is FAR off in the future (at least 10 months) and I'm just taking suggestions/thoughts. I'm basing on the 'ol scale of "needs" "wants".

Needs - 4 doors. decent power. reliable/quality
wants - comfort features like bluetooth stereo hands-free, excellent stereo, gps, satellite radio

Now I'm figuring I can buy a car with all this in there and some other features (backup camera in genesis, dvd player, all integrated to look stock, cause it is) or upgrade my current car to have close to all of this (i'm sure there's a super stereo receiver that has dvd playback, gps, satellite radio, etc and I can put whatever speakers, amp, sub, etc. that I want)

I'm sorta leaning towards 'pimping' my current ride. It really would suck that if I get deployed again (surprise surprise) I'd lose that much time on my warranty and my car will end up being very new with only basic powertrain left. However if I keep it and mod it, i'm messing with warranty issues anyway.

And for those who are talking about financially stable, I've been being a good boy so far, and although still fairly young (25) I've got excellent credit, savings, retirement funds, and the only debt I will have at the end of the year will be my wife and mine's car payments. So 10k (or rather 10g's in money world?) would be just for that. And by that time there should be much more support and we'd know what works what doesn't by the time I would get back (2010).

PS - Zoomzone, I feel you. My job in the army is as an army musician. So I came back and bought my wonderful instruments (clarinets). Next time I get back I'll be getting a tenor sax.

My brother is in 1st ID Band. He plays guitar, and is currently in Manahattan, KS. He'll be going to Afghanistan via Hawaii next month. He used his combat pay from a previous tour in Iraq to buy a custom made guitar. Cool thing, the guitar makers usually sell this thing (of course I say this thing, but each one is hand made per order) for around $4000, and let him have it when he had paid only $2500. It has SARGE engraved in the neck.

What division are you with?

I bought my MS3 to satisfy my HP addiction for a year or two until the 135i prices settled down. However, BMW has decided to eliminate the oil dipstick and doesn't offer an LSD in their non- ///M cars. On top of that, the twin turbo N54 is wrecking its oil in as little as 3000 miles. And I just find the 135i to be awkward looking... The MS3 has provn to be quite entertaining- FWD and all, so I'm pretty satisfied for now. About the only thing that has a chance of turning my head these days is a 2005-2006 M3 with the Competition Package. Imola Red or Interlagos Blue, Xenons, Cold Weather Package, HK, and NO sunroof.
But I'm in no hurry to find one.

get the new gtr....u could proly afford a lease on that car...so fast i just saw a video on youtube 0-60 3.3 sec 1/4 in 11.6

I'm thinking of trading in the Speed3 for a GT-R when they are available.

You must have money to burn. (bowdown)

09 Nissan GT-R= $70,000+
I'll say payment would be around $1500@ month lol. Insurance you say? Better not to talk about that. (sssh)

First off thank you for your service!

Secondly, I personally think Hyundai is on a roll. They have put out some REALLY nice products for the money as of late and if you plan on keeping a vehicle a while, I would not think twice about getting one, great warranty to.

I think the Genesis coupe will be close to the top of the class in its segment. Manual trans, RWD, great choice of motors. So barring something going terribly wrong, it should be a great purchase.

NOW.... with all that said, think about financial responsibility (sorry to be a party pooper) The MS3 is a great car. Its plenty classy, plenty fast and it has utility to boot. Keep the thing, heck SAVE the 10K and invest it or something. Or hook the car up to your liking and save the cash.

Maybe you're just loaded and I understand that you're in a dangerous field of work but be smart with your cash. Just my 2 cents.

I have close friend who is engineer at GM and he tells me he's afraid of hyundai and it IS on a roll. I can't remember wich BMW was but the Genesis is stiffer 15% the chassis. If you can do that to the CHASSIS, imagine the rest of the car. :o

Perfect! Why didn't I think of that.

Thanks for all the ideas. It looks like my orders are being changed so I will end up being deployed again (my choice to deploy - I asked to have them changed so I would). So with my pay raise for hitting another year of service, and all the entitlements I'll be getting, I should have more than enough money to either switch to another car or heavily mod mine (performance AND show).

I think after much debate here, I'm going to mod the MS3. Provided the results of, well, yet another thread are favorable. I will have plenty of money to put into it when I return from overseas and will end up putting in a DVD/GPS/EVERYTHING touchscreen head unit and putting in REALLY nice speakers, amp, and subtle (I don't want "boom" I want clarity) sub. And I'll try to do all the work myself for fun. Take my time and dynomat the doors and whatever else I can get to. I also have a few other little silly mods like trying to make my iGO charger look more like it's a part of the car instead of having wires all over the place. Some gauges, a dashhawk, stuff like that.

And then I'll probably put a nice set of springs (aparantly cobb springs are pretty good), of course a TBE to compliment my MS CAI, fuel pump, maybe even (if I feel real spendy) the protege garage engine with forged pistons/rods, slightly bigger turbo (gt28 maybe). And then a careful and conservative tuning and after that throw in a water/meth injection kit. I read (and it sounds good) that it's better to throw a water/meth kit on an already tuned well engine. So if the water/meth fails to inject, your engine is still within safe parameters. And of course, a unique to me paint job (nothing super fancy, just probably orange with two black stripes on the driver's side of the hood). That'd bleed off a good 1/3 of what I'll probably earn downrange.

eya but u dont have to do anything to the car...with few mods that thing is in the 9's

Ummm . . . . yeah . . . . while I will certainly be getting decent money while deployed and will be able to afford a little more car, I think the GT-R is more than a little out of my range. And also, not quite what I'm looking for either. but thank you anyway!

GT-R in Denver is at $100k with markup right now, and the local Nissan dealer is asking for a larger deposit than the Lamborghini dealer(which is across the street) is for a Gallardo order.

Um, no. Nissan has made it very clear there engine management software is designed specifically to prevent performance increases from modifications, and that they have made the software one of the hardest boxes of all time to decode.

At least for a couple of years, the only way to pick up much more power is to go with a standalone EMS. Which at that point, you may as well have just bought a used Porsche turbo.

Really the only other car that would even temp me to trade the car would be a Evo.. thats the only other car that I was looking @ before I got my speed3. But I love my speed3.. but for some reason it hates me lol. If we are talking any car period... then A Porsche 911 GT3 RS is my dream car.. and Id like a 7 series BMW as well. Thats what my garage will look like in the future... my daily Speed3... my I wanna get arrested tonight Porsche 911 and then my poppin the collar big pimpin downtown BMW 7 series.

didnt know that, but you could still do basic mods for 30-60whp gains like exhaunst, intake, boost controller

You could pick up alot more than that. Everyone says their ecu's are uncrackable, but eventually they get figured out. And the gtr is faster than the porsche turbo in every way, it is also a beautiful car for half the price.

You probably pick up over a 100whp with a tbe, cai, and boost controller. Just the boost controller alone would get you a 100hp on a car like that. Then you could get a better incooler, cams, i mean it will go on and on with that car. It's going to have alot of mods because it will become the flagship car in the japanese gt500 racing series, just like the r34 was and the 350z is now. Racing breads mods.
